Default Just got an MT5..... WOW!!

Hi all, I'm new to big scale and I'm currently having a look for tips, advice and what not.
I bought my MT5 off flebay, second hand for £600 including delivery, it is in near perfect condition with only 2 minor scratches on the shell. The guy reckons it's only been used twice and I'm inclined to believe him as the tyres barely have a scuff on them and the chassis is spotless, not a single scratch. He said that I'd need to finish the break in (20:1 right?) as he'd only had a few tanks through it.
It came with the usuals: Hitec HS645MG throttle/break servo, Hitec HS5745MG Steering servo, KO EX-5 radio gear, bosch suppressor cap, 6v 5 cell rx pack, failsafe, battery meter and a bottle of king cobra racing venom. Did I get a good deal? Will I need anything else?

Also, has anyone got any useful info for the big scale, or more specifically, MT5 newb ? I'm gonna buy a jetpro when my wallet recovers, will I need to upgrade the drivetrain to handle the extra umph?

Cheers

Chris

there isn;t really a "drive train" :P

No you won't need to upgrade it - but you should buy a steel pinion - Do they come with a plastic one? i think they do - but yea - that will wear out really fast if its plastic.

Thanks, yeah the pinion is plastic 16 tooth.
By drivetrain I mean everything from the gears and diffs to the axles.

Things I reccomend are 29cc eng. upgrade(not that it needs it), pipe, alloy gear carrier, front disc brakes and a good failsafe ! ! ! !
Later on down the road u might wanna upgrade the rear diff, maybe the pin/spur gear to alloy( IMO )

Why the 27cc? it has a 26cc already.
I just bought the 29cc billet head kit from Oniell bros,(Thanks Paul and Shawn)
Im going from a stock 23cc to this and I already have the Jet pro pipe.
Sounds like you have a great truck, you will love it..
As for what is left for needed upgrades, steel gears pinion and spur, and steel diff tube.
Enjoy!!

Thanks for the input ppl! I'm making a list of parts to buy and it's filling up quite quickly.
Been for a spin with it and I'm very impressed. Done a few jumps and tore up the field near my house and when I was finished, took half the field home with me. (stuck to the truck)

I better put some after run oil in my nitro engine because it aint getting used for a while...

welcome and you've made a great choice with your purchase

i would recommend the new jetpro pipe with built in silencer also when you get used to driving this baby i would recommend either cable or hyrdo brakes for your front end

I'm actually playing with that idea, I only just bought my RS4 3 Evo before christmas and it's still in excellent condition, hopped up too.
