Default reed block conversion???

ok brain boxes....
can you lot try to explain exactly how a reed block conversion adds power please.
ive replaced reeds and reed blocks on crossers in the past but never fitted them as a mod.
just cant see how it works. i am assuming it has to be in conjunction with porting but cant see how they work in conjunction.
any explanations gratefully received.

regards,
paul.

There are reed cases and a bolt on reed. The bolt on reed is installed in the intake port. This allows you to add a 5th port into the cylinder. (boost port) Mainly they just add torque.

too bad we can't have it all, reedvalves and flatslides, now wouldn't that be the cats *****, no more butterflyvalves[:'(], these engines are too small for these types of upgrades I would think

Reed Valves add more power throughout the entire RPM range of the engine, this is why Motocross bikes utilize them. They are no longer the simple carburated setups so the engine more efficiently gains power. Any Reed Valved engine will out perform a purely carburated one and will reach higher RPM's than simple carburated engines.

That oddified dude is crazy!! he sells an engine with just porting for $500+
Even stock engines they sell for a lot...

So you have to look another direction...in goped world

Badz has it dead on. A reed will always be a better setup. But as with all horsepower its just a matter of money.
