FG MT Turning questions
Loving the FG MT truck....and I have a question about the turning radius.
I currently have a Rhino Digital 4 servo, used for steering.
When I am running the truck, it seems that the turning radius is not as sharp as I would like or expect it to be. As soon as I apply brake, almost to a full brake, the truck will turn nicely. Once i start to accelerate again....and try to turn, the truck starts to make wide turns again.
Is this normal? If not...any tips on decreasing the turning radius?
Thank you

Sounds like the normal "push" of the truck under throttle. The tires lift in the front under acceleration and drop back down when going slow or on the brakes making turning tighter.

RE: FG MT Turning questions
You have understeer and its normal for this truck....high centre of gravity plus large wheels/tyres = crap turning circle.
Make sure your servo is turning the wheels all the way to their stops....not hard on their stops but just touching or you will burn your servo out.
Are your tyres glued and do you have foam inserts?....foam will make your truck bouncy.
If they are glued with no inserts, drill a 3mm hole on the inside of each rim....the truck will handle better.
Also get rid of the standard Fg shock oil...its way too thick....put some light weight oil in there, it will help.

RE: FG MT Turning questions
another thing to take into consideration maybe , if you have a hand set like a futaba 3vc\3pk check the end point adjustment on the servo channels are set correctly
like people say aswell other things to take into cosideration is the large wheels, take alook at the videos on oneills website they seem be turning alright http://www.oneillbrothers.com/rccar/videos.htm

RE: FG MT Turning questions
I have the same problem and raised a question on this forum last week titled Digital Servo Power Question. I thinks its just down to the single servo just not having the torque to handle the big tyres. Take a read of the replies to the question I raised there are some very useful points.

RE: FG MT Turning questions
I dont think that it is a servo power issue....i can turn the wheels full, even when the truck is sitting still on the ground.
I will check the endpoint adjustments...but I am pretty sure that they are full, about right when the stops hit.
I have the tire glued with no foams, and with holes drilled in the tires. Not too bouncy..
I have seen some people remove the stops on the wheels....is this a good idea?

erm, not saying its something you should do, just trying to put things in perspective really.i just put monster wheels on my marder and the handling will be totally different. horses for courses. those spiked race tyres just have so much grip its stupid!

RE: FG MT Turning questions
after gaining a bit more experience with these things recently, i dont honestly think those tyres will last 5 minutes!
reckon your better off using the leopard/marder race tyres and rims.the st sits lower than the mt/mb so it wouldnt look too bad
depends wether your after looks or handling really...

RE: FG MT Turning questions
some one i know had a nitro monster truck, the tyres had no inserts in, the wheels used to flare to nearly twice size, used to tip alot when at some speed when turning.
