RE: How much air you willing to get with your 1/5 scale
I voted 5 feet... And that would be a calculated jump, not just into thin air and hoping for the best.
It is not so much that I am worried the car will disintegrate, but I like to have a feel beforehand where the car is going and where it will end up. Maybe I am more of a racer than a basher...

I have jumped my MB 4 to 5 feet high and a distance of 15 + feet over and over with no problems at all. Granted it was in a sand pit and the landing area was 2 to 3 inches of pretty soft sand. But even with quite a few bad landing and tumbles, nothing ever broke. I wouldn't go much higher than that, these are too heavy to go much higher.

RE: How much air you willing to get with your 1/5 scale
I have had my MT a bit over 5 ft. Not that I wanted to do it but it just happened one day while playing on a dirt mound, I actually have done it a few times after that and not one problem.
most of the jumping I do is with a ramp that is 5" tall, because my yard is not that big, we have gotten 28' at mild speed and stabbing the throttle at the base of the ramp.
I have been unpressed with my FG thus far

I've launched my MB off some of these and let me say I won't do it again!!! 7ft hill and landed 20+ feet after. If you jump these make sure it's a table top jump so you can land softer.

This is about normal for me 2-3ft.... I have however occasionally gone 5-6ft with no touble at all, you just have to be careful how you leave the ramp.

hi over the weekend, i was trying to out do my buddy's hellfire. i couldn't match his hight, but i did get it just over 7 foot in the air. it bottomed out when it hit but only bounced once and kept on going. and your right, try not to jump them while they are comming out you. our day ended when my firehammer landed on his hellfire. it wasn't pretty. let's just say he had to wait on some of the parts for his hellfire. hpi is on back order with the parts that broke . i gave him half of the cost for the parts, luckly my firehammer suffered nothing. it's funny how the metal shock mounts bend when the right amount of force is applyed.

I bumped a AE MGT once and mine kept going as if nothing happened while his was doing cartwheels on the field. Should I have stopped? Will I get charged with a hit and run from AE police??

Although these are pretty tough they do break sometimes. The strange thing is that I've seen some guys really launch the MT off a BMX jumps at a track with minor breaks. Sometimes we are lucky with our landings. When you jump - there are so many factors that come up.
Here's a few:
Outside Temperature
Plastic, Aluminum parts
Weight of car/truck
Speed
Ramp height, incline, landing ramp?
If you notice most tracks in Europe do not have big jumps for these. They also seem to use carpet or astro turff material.
That's why having 2 buggies helps!!

i jumped my marder from 7ft and it landed perfect, flew like a bird then rolled to a halt and i'd lost throttle and brakes!the impact stripped the screws clean out of the servo body and left gears scatterd around the chassis plate... so i got a better stronger one, taped the servo up so it was stronger so i can do it again.

I have jumped my Monster beetle at about 5 feet, it landed about 15 ft later on its near side rear ripping my rear upper wishbone out of its socket, went back in tho! I am willing to go higher but it starts to cost, worth it if you are recording it, I used to get much more air with my savage big twin, but that was more expensive! I just like ripping up the dirt at the moment, the lanscape is lovely and green until we turn up with our fg's and then about 2 hrs later mud and mayhem! Just need some brakes on the beast, it won't stop for toffee! Which is fun if you like broadsiding and wheelspinning!![>:]

Apart from the fact that andy1969's Beetle seems to have a magnetic attraction to my ST, and is at this moment is licking its wounds after another sound whuppin' and a hollerin' from said vehicle, with the scars to match. My ST? Slightly out of true steering arm, oh the irony...muhahahhaaaaaaa.

Not yet! Not sure how they would fare, with all the sand and that. I suppose a lot of the U.S guys run theirs in "sandy" places so it shouldn't be much of a problem. What do you think you lot over the pond?
