Default disk brakes

Im looking at these disk brakes available to large scale cars and i think these are the coolest thing around. are they in a kit form or only sold with the cars? does anybody have any low budget ways to fab these? any info would be appreciated.

yes indeed they are sold seperatly and there are many makes that charge silly prices but if you want good sharp, responsive, reliable hydro brakes that don't need any maintenance then you have one or 2 good choices, you can purchase kp.designs mark 3 hydro brakes or hellya on this board does a good set for roughly the same price.

or if money is tight you could purchase fg cable brakes instead or the more expensive hydros

yes, cables is what im wondering about. how do they work? maybe somone could give a good close up shot of them.to me it just looks like cables run through plasic tube, but that doesnt seem to be enough to operate brakes.maybe i just dont get it.

Got front discs on my fg beet,(cables)linked to the trottle/brakes servo although I have heard ya can use a third to operate discs. They work off a cam that alows more"pull" because of the fulcrum.Original .m.b is right in saying the hydros are better but do come at a price.Look on E-Bay there are a few used sets for sale and you could probably get them a decent price! Unfortunatly I cant show you mine because I dont have a pic,but one of our fellas is bound to have a good pic.
Good luck

Ive got cable discs on my leopard. Ill dig the camera out in a bit and try and get some good snaps to post for you. My disc brakes run off a third servo and they are verry good performers.

Thats exactly what is happening there just like a padal cycle cable brake system and if you set them wrong and apply them too hard you'l go A%se over t$t just like on a pedal cycle. If you want any more pics let me know.

Are you looking at putting them on a leapord?

well not exactly, im building a 1/5 from scratch....kind of.a guy called dr honda gave me the idea to use a weedwacker motor and mount it in the chassis.i have the layout pretty much ironed out,2wd,2spd,but i didnt want the only brakes to be rear.so with the egine in the rear it would be a pain to have axles in the front just for braking.and i hate how they are set up on 1/8 nitro,ya know, with the rods off the servo arms.just seemed better.
