4X4 FG Monster Truck Mt5
Has anyone seen these. Its a 4X4 conversion kit for the FG, thats right FG. Now you can make your FG Monster Truck 4X4. Price in the US is somewhere around $1350 after duty fees and shipping. Here are some photos of it. I have been thinking about selling them. Any comments on these. Thanks

You have to use 2 steering servos with a y cable. One quarter scale servo is not enough to turn the 4wd. I was told that its built solid and has been tested over 8 months now.

The price is just for a kit to convert. Think about it. The Kamitiro truck is 4x4 and its $2500 retail. The FG kit $1300 (kit) + $1100 (truck) =$2400. It seems high but there is no way to purchase a FG out the box in 4x4, you have to purchase this kit along with the truck.

If there are enough people interested I will get one here, install it and take some video of it in action. As of now there is no video I am aware of. If someone has one of these or has video please show. I was told that its awesome and works great. I would like to see it with my own eyes.

Here are some more photos of the 4x4 FG Monster truck. Here is the company's website also. Keep in mind that you have duty fees and shipping costs to the $849 Euros

IMO the only proper way and not add tons of steel is to have a 3 dif 4WD, with drive shafts from the mid-dif to the front- and rear- dif.
It will be more dureable and probably a ligther construction than this.
The only problem is: there is no space in the excisting Marder to do this. [:@]

This setup looks like it was thought out very well. Looks great and really looks like it justifies the cost. I dont think thats a bad deal at all.

There is a kit for the Marder also. The company doesnt have any photos of it but insured me that it works and fits the same way. I ordered a Monster Truck Kit so we will see how long it takes to get here and once installed how well it holds up.

RE: 4X4 FG Monster Truck Mt5
I have this kit in cirulation already the only down fall is the teflon runner that serves as the chain tracker/ tension wears quickly
Some people here in washington have purchased this 4x4 kit and as we speak are duplicating the conversion kit.... but will improve the system make a few changes and drop the price down too......But haven't we all heard that before

RE: 4X4 FG Monster Truck Mt5
I like the idea of the conversion, but for the price? I dunno.
I appreciate that the Kamitiro is in the same range as this kit plus the FG required to build it, but the Kamitiro is also full alloy, and designed specificly around the chain drive.
I have no inheirent issues with chain drive over a shaft, I mean it is simple, reliable, and cheap to fix. I'd hope to see some form of tensioner though, not just a chain wedges between two teflon/plastic blocks.
It might however be a cost effective option to buy the kit on its own, and just purchase the remaining peices needed to make a truck (i.e. engine, tranny, rear diff & suspension, shocks, body etc...). It still wouldn't be cheap, but it would allow you to drop in a bunch of nice hop-ups right from the start, and save some $$$ in the long run.

Spiral bevel gears are very expensive so that would not be an option.

They do not need to be spiral bevel gears. Spiralized ones are more expensive but the differance is not that big.

Thats our other option for 4x4 vehicles..... but look closley at the items required ( not included) to drive
Oh ya... cash only no CC............... I'm getting one

Edit : I agree the conversion kit is great but as with all the 1/5 parts and cars.... overpriced
This should be a $5-600 coversion kit at the retail level because you still have to incorporate your own vehicle into the kit

the 4wd conversion dont come with an engine either and it aint that much cheaper than a mcd with a £140 zen
edit: or the kamitro - only few hundred $$$ more and thats full alloy truck with engine built around 4wd,im not knocking the conversion its a great piece of engineering but to expensive imo

RE: 4X4 FG Monster Truck Mt5
[8D]Being new (I've had my Marder Race 1 week) and running an unmodified buggy probably means my opinion doesn't count for a lot but for what it's worth I wouldn't pay that for a conversion and I wouldn't buy the Kamitro either. With having both ends of the chain exposed you're going to pick up dirt and wear the plastic/teflon tracks and your gears & chain very quickly. You'll need to clean and lube the thing religiously, ask anyone that rides an off road bike regularly!
The Marder is a 3rd hobby for me so I didn't rush to buy the most expensive buggy on the market as I'm on a limited budget, although from the fun it's given me so far I may get hooked and if I do I'll be in the MCD camp. If I go 4WD it would have to be shaft, yes they sap more more but they are far less labour intensive than some oily gritty chain.
Still different strokes for different folks.[8D]

[8D]I've just looked at the link for the Kamitiro on another thread from an owner and it does look impressive but I'd still go with the MCD, but if you love making yourself work you can while away some time washing and lubing that long chain and spend your beer money on chain guides![8D]
