Default pinion gears

does the 16t steel diff/idle gear (6431) on a marder race have the same teeth profile as the 16t steel pinions used on mt - are the both the same gears!!

Yes, same diameter and profile. There are just two versions that only differ in their width: #6431 (narrow) and #6431/1 (wide).

the narrow one is for the layshaft.
....and so is the wide one. It's standard on all FG offroad cars that come with the wide differential ring gear and a 16T layshaft pinion.
On the clutch bell you should use the wide one in combination with plastic spur gears. If you use a steel spur gear, you can use both versions.

thanks - thats what i needed to know,i swapped the 16t idle gear for 14t for monster wheels,so saved a few ££ if i can use the 16t on the clutch bell as im using a steel spur.
