RE: 4WD Conversion KIT made by KAMITIRO
get that belt drive wet one time and see how much it slips until its dry Is it a ribbed belt?
Didn't FG already have the belt drive but didn't mass produce it ...I wonder why??
Well atleast its alot more affordable than the chain drive conversion kit... about 1/3 the cost $460 A front diff setup, a belt and a extension off your pinion drive.......... thats the kit??

Hellya the only belts that would slip are "V" belts. These are timing belts and have teeth on them. They are VERY strong. The problem is though, is that rocks and stuff get in them easy and it just takes a small one to lock up the whole deal. With that said, this setup looks pretty good and for the price who can complain?

I think belt drive can work fine. My only "complaint" would be the seeming lack of any tensioning system. Seems to me that would be a logical requirement of this kind of set-up.

I am against belt drives in general; certainly in off-road but.... this looks like a real nice one! [sm=thumbup.gif]
Maybe it increases the center point of gravity a bit but having the belt in the air keeps it clean and then it will function proper.
I think this might be the solution we all waited for.
To me it looks the best so far and reasonably priced.

I´ll be getting one, definetly!
bribeguy, there seems to be tensioning through the long turn buckles that go from the front bulkhead to the engine. Nice stiffeners also.

RE: 4WD Conversion KIT made by KAMITIRO
I especially like the way that Kamitiro use a lot of original FG parts in the kit. Like the standard marder front lower wishbones, and MT upper rear wishbones as upper fronts. Standard diff, and pinions.
I think it is REALLY sweet that ordinary diffs are used, making it possible to switch to an adjustable or self-locking. The 4x4 truck that Kamitiro makes has the chain going over the diff centers.
I´d expect the chassi to be much more rigid with the adjutsing turnbuckles as well.
edit:
I feel this is the year of 4wd...For real! I bet it won´t take long for FG to release a kit now.

Should work for the MT truck as well, only prob is the body tower that is different from the marder. I am sure it can be worked through...
I´ve been watching the movie and I together with some friends) are discussing exactly how much it is driving those front wheels... I would expect more spinning but ehymaybe it is just a bad movie.
So, first, is the belt cogged or not? And how does it deal with being so close to the exhaust port and the inevitable oil spewing out of there...
