the reason for the pics is that i had the metal gears and the mount for my truck so i installed the mount and the gears.also the smaller gear is is smaller in widththat the stock one.how many washers did you put in between the mount and the gear

The narrow pinion will be fine you will need to use enough washers to get the gear as close to center of the spur as possible without causing binding issues in other areas. Did you hear it shift yet?

whats the advantage of the 2 speed? speed or torque? is it worth the 200 extra? what is the top speed of these trucks anyway? with or without?

hello out there to all fellow and feline rc'ers. I am on the horns of a delimma. i am in the process of buying my first rc. I am interested in the monster truck platform. I have been wanting one for a while and when a couple of guys at work bought a Traxxas MT, I got hooked. I went to a large RC store in Michigan to look around and walked out an hour later more confused than ever! i was ready to buy the Traxxas, when i came across the 1/8 scale Associated models. Then I saw the HPI models and was hooked. Then i went on line and read about the CEN GENESIS models. I was ready to purchase when I came across the FG MT5! What a truck! Have'nt seen one up close yet but I am thinking of making a move on this one. Thumbs up or down! let me know before I part with a good chunk of my check book. looking forward to hearing from you'all. There is a lot of good advice out there to be had.
thanks again.

You should pick up speed and torque because of the gearing, stock top speed is around 40-45 mph.

From my experiance with a fully stock FG MT. Off the line, most nitros would smoke my MT, but once the MT gets moving, I would compare them pretty even with a Stock nitro. Just my experiance, I am sure if you get new pipe, different gears, results would varry.

Ya, not sure what the stock pipe would do against a nitro. I changed to the Fg pipe and can beat my neighbors 2.5 tmaxx and I don't have a two speed. There are quite a few things needed so that many of the 1/5/1/6 scales will be bashable. In all depending on what transmitter you pick you will spend about $1,500.00 - $1,600.00 give or take a hundred. You can use the stock items but, will soon realize you need the upgrades recommended by those on here. I used the stock till they either broke or I could buy them.

Oh ya, my neighbor drools at the site of my MT and I use it way more than he fiddles with his - Heck he was over today watching me bash around the yard.[>:] I also had a tmaxx and loved it till I tasted the 1/5 scale fun and like my nieghbor it sat more then got used....

JUST^ MO.

No, you can ask that and they will answer. Best thing to do is if you have a question other then the subject your posting in just make a new post and title it what you want that way you try not to what they call hijack someones post. The search engine in RCU kinda sucks and is hard to use unless you know exactly what its called. Good luck on your new post.

does anybody know if you need to put those damper rubbers in the 2 aluminium gear carrires??

also on the gear the smaller one is that supposed to spin freely back on forth? as i see the bigger gear only spin on direction

and when you push the car forward the gear wheels do not move but when you push the car backwards the gears move, is this normal with the 2 speed setup??
