Default money well spent!

its offical my fg-st is the best rc model iv ever owned !! (and iv ad a few!)
spent 3hrs in delermere forest today and still cant get the grin off my face
few mods have been added since new, alloy gear carrier a must, alloy crossbars, alloy rear uprights(bargainĀ£10 of de bay)k+n,plus pre filter, and gear cover another must!
but best of all fg fr, cable brakes, which has to be said needed a bit of setting up !(to get the best braking force) but nailed it in the end, with the help from other rcu members, cheers!,,
and the difference was well, superb! the st doesnt have the ground clearence of the mt but makes up for it in stabbility,
i had trouble free bashing, and had the sucker jumping,[&:] and people this st flys with the cy 26! iv had zenohas but this has more top end by far! (stil wheelspin@ 30plus)no shiX! i would of carried on only for the crowd that was gathering! lol
The 2 reasons for this post,
1,this rc car is the best money iv spent yet!
2,many people think fg,s need loads of Ā£,$, spent on hop ups, this is not TRUE!!-these models are more seviceable than any other i no of, by far!

not a whiff of nitro!

rchertz ,

can you list your mods again for me, with the price you paid and if you bought it off ebay etc. (I just want to know what I should look for on ebay and what I should just get from my LHS).

I have a brand new monster beetle pro (only started it for like 3 minutes so far...hasn't hit the pavement/dirt yet!)

Glad to hear you enjoyed it m8y & i agree with you 100%, FG's DONT need massive amounts of money spent on them to make them "Driveable" as some say, all ive spent on mine is Ā£5 for a metal pinion!

you say you went to Delamere Forest, I visit there regulary with my MB Pro, did you goto the skills area?

Maybe we could meet up sometime, its only 10mins by train for me (i have no car atm! )

Infernal, Parts id recommend (in order)

Alloy Servo horns (for steering a must!)
Steel pinion
Alloy Rear Upper A-Arms
Alloy carrier

Ones below i wouldnt get straight off, but in the future so you appreciate the difference it makes:
FR cable/hydro brakes
Tuned pipe

Theres more you could spend, but tbh if your MB Pro is brand new, get used to it before splashing out Ā£100's on hop-ups, A metal pinion & rear upper A-Arms is enough to get you started, ive had mine 6 months & all ive done is put a steel pinion on & had no probs so far

Hope this helps

edit!

forgot to mention...
When you setup the steering link to the servo horn, Use nuts & bolts... DONT just screw into the plastic horn as shown in the instructions! ..it wont last 5mins ..get yourself an alloy servo horn & 2 nuts & bolts with washers

Not to hijack the thread, but I myself just received (last wed) my new FG MT, and I was concerned that I was overspending on a fully stock RC that I was going to have to upgrade. Even going as far as to make sure I had enough money to buy all these "needed" upgrades. yet after taking it out on the weekend, and bashing it like I bashed my nitros. I quickly learned that my FG could take a lickin and keep on tickin. Ive now run about 10 tanks through it and have rolled, cartwheeled, jumped and even crashed it badly enough that I thought I was done. Still nothing broken...WOOOOWHOOOOOO...The ONLY issue I see is with the plastic gears. A Rock was jammed in the spur gear..well a pebble, wich then imbeded itself in it, and started to remove teeth on the spur gear, but still runs like a dream..Best RC I have ever owned BY FAR...

Is it strange that I say goodnight to my RC???
