Default HPI Baja went from "Mid May" to "Early June" on Tower Hobbies site

Don't know if this is just a Tower Hobbies supply problem because they are filling pre-orders or if HPI has delayed their shipment to Tower (and possibly other hobby shops too).

The wait continues...[:'(]

Straight from HPI customer support,

David,

The Baja is here in our warehouse. We are actually waiting for the parts to get here so we can ship out the Baja and any parts that will be needed at the same time. I would imagine a week or so before they ship out.

Don't know what the deal is with Tower but maybe they are getting enough to fill preorders first & the later dates are for the people that didn't preorder???

Yea, I suspected Tower may have exhausted their first allotment of Baja's with pre-order fulfillment and the date is pushed out for those who would just now be ordering.

I have also been wondering why Tower doesn't have parts odering information up yet. It would seem to me that they would have all the parts up on their site even if not available yet to take pre-orders for them. I have been curious to know what basic parts are going to cost for the car.

I have to stick with my Firehammer for the forseeable future (not a hardship ) but have enjoyed watch the Baja develop.

I assume HobbyThek gets the Bajas with CY engines. If you upgrade to the Zenoah, what does HobbyThek do with the CY engine?

We sell them. There are always enough people looking for a cheap new engine...

I've got the dealer's list today. A-arms and uprights are similar to FG, the metal pinions are cheap (due to the way they're made, not machined), machined metal parts are quite expensive.

so the HPI doenst come with the Zenoha Engine??? thats hardly a deal at 950 then, to have to shell out another 300.00 for the Zenoha motor when the Traxxas and FGs come with Zenoha 26s as stock? hmm makes the HPI lower on the list in my book....

ya but you can get the Traxxas Monster buggy for 700.00 with Zenoha engine stock, and only need to install your own servos, which i like cuz traxxas stock servos SUCK.

Let's say it with Sid (Ice Age 2): the US price completes the European. The US price is all fun and the European is no fun at all.

And that's with a strong Euro....

fair enough a few% increase is the norm in ripoff europe - but trying to justify over a 50% increase is taking the p**s

looking at modelsport uk - there price has dropped from the £800 to £730 which seems inline with hobbytek - so i take it thats the final european price!!

There's a matter of preference for me also, for the money I would like to be able to appreciate the appearance. I have read of alot of problems with the traxxas buggy & parts availabillity being one of them, especially if you goto traxxas forum they have a spot for MB thread & the biggest question is how do you get parts for this thing. Back to the apperance, if I owned one I'd have to shave its butt & make it drive backwards, but that's just my opinion. I am not for a minute saying that the appearance is the deciding factor for my choice but it sure plays in there & I can't get past the Traxxas being that ugly.

Also, this was not in reply to chevyman, it was in reply to timmah. sorry

The HPI price at $989 USD is close to the Duratrax Firehammer price of $899 USD. Both have the CY 23cc engine and are completely RTR (less fuel).
The Baja looks better than the Firehammer. Hopefully it is and Duratrax will build a better buggy (include alloy hop-ups or larger engine). Competition is (almost) always a welcome thing.

Didn't FG use CY engines for a while on the MT/MB or was that something I imagined?

I had an FG Monster Beetle with the CY engine. Worked well for me for many months, until I sold it.

The Tower date is for new orders. The first shipment out of Tower should be Monday.

Traxxas buggy isnt all that great.... I had friends who owned them and sold them for the clone1/5 vehicles which cost less than those buggies

26cc engines are only $200 the 23 cc engines rev out at higher RPMs..... 26 have more low end grunt but dont rev out as high
