the diff,and gears look identical to our fg's except for the price..there like 1/2 of what fg wants.

I have a Firehammer. The gears are the same size. The tooth count may not be right for your car (you didn't mention if you are running a Marder, MT, MB, etc.)
The gears are made of a steel that is not as hard as it should be. I stripped two layshaft and two diff ring gears before buying the extreme duty gears made by HobbyThek (resold by fg-hopups.com if you email Mark with the request). I paid $90 for the two gears. They are not cheap but worth it IMO. For what I spent on two each of the Duratrax gears...

I have a marder and I have also used the FH gears.... I stripped the layshaft gear in about 3-4 tanks of hard driving. Cheaper now but more $$ in the long run. Stick with FG parts.
