Default changed engine now new prob

hello fellas i put in a 2 speed and a new engine now i have a problem that sounds like the layshaft gear and the big diffrent gear are grinding. It did this the other day and the layshaft gear finally came off i loctited the set screws now it stays but the noise is their. Its almost acting like their isnt a good mesh between the two gears. My small engine mount had a hairline crack in it.

on my old RC10, the mesh looked fine but when i moved the engine away a bit the noise went away
just dont move it to far away...or youll kill the gears :P

To help set the proper gear mesh between the layshaft pinion and the diffs rear gear ring...... use either a piece of cardboard paper or fold some typing paper in 1/2, 2 times........Slide the paper inbetween the 2 gears and pull your engine back towards the diff, then tighten your motor mounts.

You dont want a snug fit you want a slight gap inbetween the gears.[sm=thumbup.gif]

Upgrade to alloy motor mounts cost about $70

thanks hellya i think thats the prob. I also think it could be i changed the 1st gear on my 2 speed to a lower gear and the pinion is steel maybe there not the correct mesh. It wasnt doing this until i changed these. I put the new engine in ran fine then changed first gear fine then after ten minutes it happened. Maybe the torque of the lower first gear is binding the layshaft gear and diff gear
