spur gear rubbing against a arm
hello guys, i took my hummer out and ran it on the track yesterday. it was fun and i was catching some air with it, but i heard some noise and i found out that the spur gear was rubbing against the rear a arm[:@][:@][:@]. i been reading the forum about this and i'm just wondering if i buy the aluminum arm for my hummer, this will not happen again right or should i buy a gear cover instead. thanks

If you buy the cover it will just rub against that and melt a hole in it, did in my case, just go for the alloy upper arms thats what most people have done.

I myself as well as others havehad the rear arm strip the gear, the alum rear upper arms will fix that. Once I installed them I have yet to have the same thing. Whats happening is the rear arms are flexing just enough, the alum ones wont flex at all.
The gear cover will not fix this problem

RE: spur gear rubbing against a arm
Changing the rear A arm to alloy will help but, the only real way to eliminate the problem 100% is to upgrade the rear uprights to alloy installing the A arm risers to keep the rod up and away from the spur all together.
I have the alloy A arms and the full alloy gears and still have a wear spot in the A arm rod from the flex of the rear allowing the alloy spur to touch the rod.[:@]
