home made filter covers!
I was trying to think of some home remedies for a filter cover on the airfilter and the pull start cover. I took a pair of old dress socks and cut the toe off about 3-4 inches back. Slipped it on the airfilter and WALLA! bound it with a rubber band and that was that.
Then I took the rest of what was left of that sock and took the pull start cover off. I made little holes for the screws to go through and neatly tucked it in around the edges (make sure you don't completely cover the back, you don't want to cover the ratchet.) I bound the very end so that if I need to take my cover off, I just undo the rubber bands and I can then take the screws off.
I like to find home remedies when I can. These cars nickle and dime you to death as it is. The only think is that my car smells like an old sock!! Hahahaha! Here are some pics. I took to high of a res, so I had to use putfile.
Thanks,
Paul

i use a 3m dust mask wire tied on.
fits like a glove and works great.
one good thing i get the dusk masks for free
at work. when they get dirty. just put on a new one.

I was thinking about that as well, but I thought maybe it wouldn't hold up as well. Oh well, woman go through those like crazy anyway so I guess it doesn't matter if it doesn't last for ever!
Just don't use fishnet, I don't think it will stop much, hahaha!

RE: home made filter covers!
I tried some cheap panty hose for a filter can sock. It didn't work very well. The dress sock material is thicker so it might do better. Water repellence might be a problem with the sock. It definitely was with the hose.
