How much I am willing to spend is funny. It's how much I will say in the long run. Nitro will kill you fast. I can't tell you how many motors i have gone through.

Well i do not own a MCD but you stated 4 wheel ..so either a MCD or a Kamitora .. i cant spell that one .. lol .. but ya alot more to maintain but i feel way more bang for your buck in the long haul and just the ease of not bringing everything out .. Fuel ,ignit ,temp gun ,fuel because goes empty every 10 minutes ... and the tuning screw driver ... if electric start all that crap ..
good luck with your choice .. it wil be a good one regaurdless ..

I got a FG MT5 Bigfoot last April & am very happy with it. It is only 2wd drive, but with the Projet pipe 4wd drive wouldn't do me any good. The front end is allways in the air! LOL I got mine from Troy from here->[link]http://www.largescalerc.com[/link][sm=thumbs_up.gif] He stand's behind his work. PS: I used to fly a Heli. with a Nitro engine $20.00 a gal. for fuel & a pain in the A** tuning, You brought back nightmair's for me. LOL Here is a great Gas Oil Mixture Ratio Calculator if you need one->[link]http://www.csgnetwork.com/oilfuelcalc.html[/link]

Only one 4wd gaser made and thats the MCD. FG MT is 2wd...basically a car with truck body. If you go 2wd buy the HPI Baja 5B. It has a excellent warranty and isn't 15 year old technology.

I have an FG MT, and if I could go backwards to do it again, I would have went with one of the clones XTM Grizley or the Smartech Bigfoot. ALMOST all the FG parts will fit, and if they dont, buying just a few extra parts will make the FG parts fit. The way I drive my FG, I have had to put alot of extra $$ into Aluminum parts.(either the way I drive or bad luck) But the way I see it, is If I would have went with a clone, I would now have all the same FG parts on a clone, but for ALOT less money. If I ever buy a 2nd one, it will be a clone and upgrade from there.

You will get MANY different replies.

I have the Firehammer, it's a clone, so like the others that said getting a clone is good I agree. I love my Hammer and I got it brand spanking new RTR for around $700. If you are looking to spend a little less, it's a great buy.
When HPI comes out with their truck I might get that. The baja is good as well, but you will be closer to the 1k mark. Spend what you can or want their all great!

That's another bonus to getting out of nitro and into GAS, In the long run gas engines last a long time, top end rebuild kits or complete motors are pretty cheap, and a gallon of gas $ compared to a gallon of nitro $ = big savings in the long run.

I will only comment on the Baja cause that's the only large scale I own, but I am very happy with it, I spent 185.00 usd and got a 29cc motor for it and it REALLY HAULS now. The suspension is really nice too, it just works so good.

Good luck with whatever you may end up buying, once you go gas....you'll never go back to nitro

i own an fg monster truck, although its only 2 wheels drive it hauls ***** big time, i play alot with guys who own nitros ( there slowly converting to big scale) and i go wherever they go and even further. To say it doesnt need hopups is pure BULL, i have had to put several upgrades on my truck to keep it running but its well worth it. I added 4 wheel disk brakes and that is probably the most usefull hopup ive done, now its STOPS where and when i want it,and then theres the rest like, aluminum uprights, steel gears, heavy duty all aluminum diff, aluminum small and large motor mounts, aluminum battery holder, aluminum servo tray, high en separate servos for all brakes, aluminum servo saver, aluminum roll cage cross members, pre filter, aluminum rear upper A-arms, i swapped my 26cc for a 29cc motor all chrome and a jet pro pipe and a 2 speed tranny on order this week and then for next month, im order a set of ball drives for the rear..... man, gotta stop spending, lol...although these mods arent all needed its up to the owner, my frind runs stock and is all happy diddly with his. IMO, this is still cheaper then nitro in the long run, and needles to say when you go out to play, you play, you dont become an on the spot mechanic like nitros.
there, thats enough for me, if wife reads all this modding thing im gonna sleep with the dog for a few weeks
