Jump over to the forum at http://www.rctek.com

Iam Oddie(Who makes that specific ECU) and several other of the UK and European large scale racers often drop by there, and the ECU has been discussed a couple of times. You won't find many winners than DON'T use the ECU.

Here is a couple of direct links to an ECU thread.

do u want the adj. timing part of it or r u looking more at the rpm temp ect. aspects of it? if u just want the rpm temp ect look at the eagle tree alot cheaper and gives u speed. or the msd kicker ignition gives u the timing and a higher voltage spark again cheaper.

Friend of mine has one. When the track has a long straight it makes sense to use it, the engine can rev-up significant higher (saw it doing 23.500 RPM).
When the engine cannot rev to the max due to the track lay-out he takes it off to save some weight.
Unless you are really into racing and want to squeeze the last drop of possible power out I think it makes not much sense to put it on. Rather spend the money on something else then. For on-road it is much more a good hop-up than in off-road.

I just re-read the threads on the ECU, I can see that the inventor only uses it for On-Road.
He said at that time, that the off-road cars break easily enough at the speeds he can get without the ECU, so He won't use the ECU for off-road....

That was in the past I gues - Ian does use an ECU off-road as well as I recall from the waldrane race last year, more people use it but not many (so far). Also because it is not the cheapest gadget...

Someday I am going to find myself one... Not for any racing value, but to satisfy my lust for technology.....
It was also that lust that gave me my Nomadio Sensor, and I haven't regretted it even once.
