Depends on what you want to do. The Baja is a good jumper. The FG can jump as good as long as you have the 8 shock setup. The 4 seems to give it a good hit causing the c-clips inside to come undone inside the shocks. Most of the cars made in Europe are for flat racing. The HPI was made more for bashing and racing on track with higher jumps. ( I think)
I know my tires gripped the dirt/mud much better that the HPI tires and having the front disk brakes helped me stop on a dime.
I love my Leopard Race and the fact that it's unique with the mods I have. (I've only seen 1 guys have one around here and it was stock)

Yup!! My spiked tires where just digging into the mud. at one time I think the diameter changed fron 6" to 7 or 8"!! Then I gave it throttle and the mud was gone. Before I load it up I ran it through a soccer field to get some of the mud off the tires and chassis.
Not too bad for a 3 year old car!!

I was up till 6:00am working on the buggy doing some more good cleaning. 3 hours sleep and I'll be back at it soon.
Since I may be at the Hobby show with it, it will need to look very clean.
Here's what my damage list is

fun had by all then
have you conciderd the 5 hole alloy pistons/rubber '0' rings and the threaded shock shafts? you'll never have a shock fail again and the pistons don't wear the shock bodies at all[8D] all fg parts.

Has anyone came up with a quick release set up for the radio plate on the FG models?
I would clean more often if there was one.

Threaded shock shafts work great. I had the on my other FG and I tink it's time to convert this one as well.
Still cleaning but added some nice stuff I picked up today. Pics in a few days once it's assembled again!

Can't accuse your car of being a shelf queen!
Hey Selwa, I notice you don't have the pullstart cover, pre-filter cover or shock covers. I just installed these on my Firehammer to try and cut down on extra cleaning and grass packing in the cooling fins of the head.
Is there a reason you have not bothered with these covers yet?

Anything special done to the servos to keep them from getting water logged?
I know that they are somewhat water resistant with O rings and all but not that resisitant.
On my old nitros I Plasti dipped them.

Yup not a shelf queen all of the time!
I wouldn't have believed it unless I weighed it!! 3LBS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll have to plastic dip my servos the next time they are back out, I just installed them the other day. The pull started doesn't need a cover since the side skirts and body do a great job keeping the dirt out. Well sometimes that is!! My air filer has the FG black cover over it. and I removed it last night to see what the filter looked like and........... it looked brand new!! Not a touch of dirt or mud on it!!
As for the shock covers, I had them on my Marder and I think I fix the wifes sewing machine and make some myself this time.
Tonight I clean up the rear and should have it back together for some bling pictures again!!

Do you have a hard time with the bearings drying out after you hose them down like that? I got my Baja really dirty once, pulled out the radio gear and hosed it down. The next day, all the drive train bearings had seized so I had to take them out, remove the seal and re-grease them.

Dont know if the Baja bearings are the same as the FG but I went to a skateboard shop and found rubber sealed bearings.
The price at Boca was better so I bought there.

RE: Clarkson Park- FG and 2 baja's
I just made sure that I sprayed them with oil first before it dried up. I have Abec 9 bearings for my wheels that I bought last year. Now I get to use them!! I'm going to check on the other sizes. Seems that each pair is around $20, I'm sure bearing companies sell them for less!

I have used a bearing company on eBay several times successfully. The prices are excellent and service was very solid.
You have to know the size or generic model number of the bearings. The vendor does not post RC equivalent info.
