FG Monster truck engine just died
Hey guys have a strange problem here. My engine on my FG monster truck (G260RC) just dies while running. Prior to it dieing I flipped the truck about 20 times after a full speed crash with a Baja, truck landed on its roof. I put the truck on its wheels (engine was still running after its crash) and proceded to drive like normal. About 100 yards away the engine just died. I trird to start it but no luck. I tried a new spark plug, no luck. One thing I noticed the plug was not "wet". I pulled the carb off and check the fuel lines, I am getting fuel through the "black' fuel line.
So now I am at a lose. I did try to blow air through the carb by pulling a new piece of fuel line on were the black line goes, did not hear any air hissing from carb.
What do you think I chould try or do.
Thanks
Joe

Do you have fuel in the primer bubble? If not prime it until you see a little fuel going into the yellow line, now the bulb should be fullThen try starting[sm=thumbup.gif]

I would say it is flooded but you say the plug is dry.... I guess the coil could have moved away from the flywheel with the jolt of the collision.
BTW Who won?? This is an answer to the MT vs Baja questions...

Yes the prime bulb has fuel, I tried that as well as the choke, no start. I did look at the coil, seems to be set properly as well.
Well the Baja has a bent front shock. He basically turned into me and I drove over his front suspension with my right wheel. This flip the truck over and over on its tires until it came to rest on its roof.

No the kill switch will push in and out. Is the switch a normally open or normally closed? Does the kill switch on these engines short out the coil like a lawn mower or do they break the circuit so the coil wont function?

Hi merchjo, Some time's the kill switch will stick. Just pull the plug & hold it close to the head & see if U got spark, if so then the switch is OK. You might want to pull the 4 screws off the top of the Carb. & check the rubber under the bulb & plastic plate. Good Luck,

I get a spark, not real strong, (not sure how strong it should be on these engines).

What air filter are you running? If the plugs not getting wet it's not pulling fuel could be a compression issue from dirt entering the engine and scoring the cylinder and piston.

Running the stock airfilter. I have not pulled the head off yet but I dont see any damage to the piston via the carb and exhaust port.

Are you doing a complete rebuild? why pull the flywheel?
I would play with the needle settings back to factory settings and spend time on the low end needle it can be a bugger when rich.

I am going take apart the motor and see if there is any damage. Waiting on getting the piston stop and flywheel puller. Its just really weird, it looked like the engine flamed out. There was not bogging or anything.

Did you check the obvious - I'm voting a spark plug problem or spark plug wire problem. How about changing it before you tear into the engine? That crash may have broken the plug....

RE: FG Monster truck engine just died
Here is what I tried
Put in 2 brand new NGKs plugs
Pulled carb off and checked for damage
Verified fuel lines were not clogged
reset coil gap
verifed spark
checked kill switch
Checked choke was not on
I did check the Magnet on the flywheel just passes the coil just before the piston hits top dead center
I am at a total lose.

RE: FG Monster truck engine just died
Have you tried dropping a little gas in the spark hole, trying to start it to see if fuel in the chamber does anything?
