Any large scale sprint cars?
Does anyone know of fuelie sprint cars? Some guys want to race large scale sprint cars and thought we could convert the 5b, but if someone already makes one, well, it may be worth a try!

WCM makes a 1/4 scale sprint car w/ a tube chassis. THere is always one for sale on Flea bay. I've seen them run at 106Racepark in NH, and they are a blast to watch. They also run 1/4 scale nascar, and Craftsman truck bodys. Go to 106racepark.com for some pics.

Yes, here are PICs of my old QuickDraw and the last two PICs show my RACO.
They aren't made anymore, but this is the one I would buy new if I was going to get one now. You can order new, and it's a current company that still makes them. So parts are easy to get.

Werloc, What are the wheels and tires used? I may be interested in purchasing one soon. I just wanted to know if the wheels are something common for another brand or model. Also, who makes the tuned pipes, and is the routing standard or specific to those cars?
When set up properly can they rail like the big boys?
Man I feel like a kid at the goodie shop. I got older and my toys just got larger and more expensive. 12 nitro vehicles that I dont have time to run, will come close to paying for another large scaler. Whahoooo.

Look around at the Galley, and Videos. A lot of eye candy over there.
Tires,
Go here: [link=http://www.qsac.org]QSAC[/link].
Click on the "Links" and look for "Bishop Racing Products". Mostly everyone gets their wheels and tires from them.
As far as setup, Yes, they handle just like the big boys. When I was racing them back in the day, my buddy raced real sprints at Williams Grove in PA. He helped me with setup. When he saw my Q scale run, he was very surprised how realistic they are. My car was "coil over" spring on the shocks. Some guys did use torsion bar setup like the big boys. Your past experience "WILL" help with these cars.
Pipes, well I don't know, anymore. My car was a QuickDraw car. They aren't made anymore. It really depends on what car you end up with. For engine mods, there are TONS out there.
I hope this helps.

Also, Don't rule out the WCM car. Back when I was racing, I didn't like them due to the chassis not being 4130 chrome moly steel tubing. They were softer steel, and would bend very easy. Other than that, they are a great sprinter also. You may want to look into them too. They may be using chrome moly tubing now. I know they are still making them. They are listed on that QSAC site also.

RE: Any large scale sprint cars?
Thanks for those links. You have now officially ruined me. Now to make a decision on what car to buy.
I just ordered an ESP 27.2 Since all these motors are a standardized dimension, does this mean that I can use the 27.2 in a sprint car as well as the buggy?
I grew up with dirt oval in Upstate NY. Dirt mods and sprint cars have always been a thrill for me. If you dont mind my asking, why dont you race any more? Lack of clubs/entries? I can only assume that the large scale will become more popular than ever in the coming years.
Thanks for the help getting a fix for my addiction.

RE: Any large scale sprint cars?
Yes, Club fizzed out about 12 years ago. No more 1/4 racing anywhere close to me. I was into it heavily too. At one time, I had 8 cars, enclosed trailer with complete shop, power, air, and a motor home to tow. I was traveling from NJ, to Con., NC., SC, and ran the Las Vegas Nationals two times.
I fun race with a few guys with Baja now on a dirt oval.
I still go to Dirt Week up in Syracuse, NY....

If you are going to do something, do it right. Sounds like you do things right.
If we get some races going, you may need to dust off your quickdraw, take a drive and come show us how its done!
