RE: 1/4 scale
heres some measurements for you.
43"L
14 3/4"W
12"H
these were based off of my Stadium Truck. The basic design is similar from the ST to the MT, besides the obvious 4wd.
Materials?
I use DOM tubing for my chassis projects. Seemless and strong, easy to work with and its not too pricey.

RE: 1/4 scale
ive been told that a chain drive direct to the rear axle will not allow the car to turn? is that because the 2 wheels need to be separated in a sense?
is that even true?
how have you powered the rear wheels?

RE: 1/4 scale
It would be like driving a truck with a locked diff. and some Limited Slip diffs. The inside tire will turn faster than the outside tire.
Think of a Quad for a smaller scale(a Mini Quad ), thats a better example. Chain driven directly to the axle.
With the direct drive, it's easier to slide into the turns because of both wheels spinning at the same rate. It doesnt mean that you have to slide into your turns. Granted it is more fun.
Most if not all NEW 1/4 scales are powered by a belt drive solid axle(direct drive with a clutch). They are pretty much limited to on-road or dirt track (flat track). I know of people who have used quad axles in some builds, both shaft drive and solid axle.

RC4WD has some pretty bad asss stuff.
They have made them for a little while. Its a little pricey but it is pretty insane work.
Have you seen there 1/6 scale truck.
