Default 23 MODIFIED ONEILLBROTHERS REED MOTOR

Well I finally got this motor in my FG competition car and wow I have to say that this is my best onroad sedan, it even handles better than my Kyosho Fw-05 RR!!!!!! I only have one tank thru the Oneillbrothers Mod 23 with reed and I am very impressed with the motor. The work (porting and polishing) that Shawn did on the motor is very nice work!!!!! I would purchase another motor from him with out thinking twice!!!!!!!! Crazy RPM's with the reed and nice bottom end torque!!!

Did you have a stock motor in there beforehand? If so how does the reed motor compare to it in speed and acceleration?

RC reed engines, when properly ported give a wider range of RPM where the power is strong. They also usually give more power because of the more advanced porting it uses. They also should give more top RPM in almost all cases. Be aware that a specialized piston port can make great power at any part of the RPM spectrum. For one good example, a race boat may use a BH Hansen QD engine that really screams on top, and puts in very fast laps on the fast oval courses. A reed engine can do that also, but it should have a lot more mid range and low end than the piston port engine. For that type of racing, I doubt a reed engine will be faster--but it should be competitive. A good reed engine usually makes more power, and on these small engines, probably allways has a wider spread of power.

will this Oneillbrothers Mod 23 with reed kit be faster than a race ported g260 with reed kit? looking for more top end speed for drag racing so just wondering if this 23 mod engine will give me more speed?

and what is the price on it?

I have a ddm race ported 26 in a FG stadium truck and I have the Oneillbrothers 23 race ported with reed in my sedan and I am going to say right now that my truck will out run my car right now! I am still in the breakin mode on the 23, it might catch it, the truck is stupid fast with the mod 26 from ddm but the oneill motor has alot of rpms, I will get back with the results because the motor is not broken in yet and I am running it really rich. I think the gearing is very different from a truck to the sedan (maybe).

ok let us know how it goes. thinking on replacing my race ported g260 with a race ported 23 on my stadium truck , do you guys think it is a good idea to do that in order to get more top end speed?
or should i just stick with my race ported g260 with the reed kit?

I ran my 23 mod/reed (Oneillbrothers) today in my Fg sedan and set the L/H needles to the factory stock setting and this motor really sings. I am now going to say it is as fast or faster than my 26 ported/polished motor in my Fg Stadium Truck. I only have a tank and a half thru it, so I am thinking it is going to get a little better. Its tuff to compare because one is a truck and the other is a sedan and I am not running them at the same time, either way you can not go wrong!!!

I'm looking at getting an oneil read/ported engine and am looking for any info. Just a question. If you bought a new read and ported engine and have only one tank of gas thru it, did you already tear it down to check the nice port work after one tank? If so why, if not how did you see the nice porting and polishing.

Regards

No I did not do that, I was looking at the exhaust port work wich was done, and that work is not done on my DDM motor, and it match up nicely.
