Default I just had a BLAST with my FG MT...BUT i broke something, Help!

Well the servo dried and i installed the DDm mid-high tuned pipe and took here out and had a GREAT time, man I was out there for a long time, i LOVE the long run times!
So after about an hour driving it i heard a clunking sound. [:@]YIKES something is wrong. SO i turned it off and took it back to the house looked at it and found where it was coming from, if your looking directly at the rear of the truck, right in the center i'm guess this is the rear differential, silver with a gear to the left side? Well that gear broke off two teeth. Please tell me it's not expensive
Anyone know what i'm talking about?

Here is a picture, kinda sucky but you can see where two teeth got tore off and the silver round piece is beat to heck, scratches all over, i'm guessing because their were some rocks i ran through?

is it just me or does it seem like a poor design having the diff in the open with no housing? i dont follow giant scale rc's very much so i dunno but it seems like it would be easy to break

So should i stop driving it? Or just keep having fun till it is totally torn up? Still seems to run well. Just an additional clunk clunk here and there lol.

stainless steel cover can be bought from any king cobra dealer but is definately a good upgrade to do when you strip it down to put new gear on and the diff guard does do the job but is designed more to strengthen up the rear and i can assure u it does

[link=http://www.rcnutshobbies.com/ELCON_ALLOY_PARTS_FOR_FG-STAINLESS_STEEL_DIFF_CASE.html]stainless steel diff cvr[/link]

[link=http://www.rcnutshobbies.com/FG_PARTS_06000_06500-Steel_gearwheel_big_48_teeth_reinforced_1pce_.html]6048/2[/link]

it has to be the 6048/02 for the monster truck it has 48 teeth and is reinforced the 6048/01 is 50 teeth and is not reinforced

First impression....LOUD lol
I'm very impressed with it though, i haven't even tuned the truck from the stock settings and it tears up the pavement, man you can see and feel the mid range power this truck has, it's insane! I'm very happy with it though, sounds real good! Definately sounds like a dirt bike.

Awesome man thanks for finding just what i needed, i'll make sure to get the /2.
So in the second piece which is 40 something bucks, is that the cylinder AND the gear? OR do i have to buy both? I might buy from them or i'll get it from Troy at Largescale since i've bought almost everything from him so far.

need to buy both seperate but is definately worth the bucks cause one stone thru that stock diff case and you will be $75 to replace the diff bevels inside the diff casing

It looks like it would be easy to break, but I've been running my FG for years without any problems with that gear. I've even had large gravel stuck in there and it didn't break. I'm really surprised.

Whether you should run it like that or not is up to you. I'd personally run it and take the chance. The worst that's going to happen is that it'll break teeth off the other gear it meshes with.

that sucks man. i never had any broken teeth on my steel gears. i had screws back out of my diff holding that ring gear on though a few times. i hope you get it up and running again soon. sucks!
My Marder has been down for a couple months now because i stripped the gears in the diff. im getting two FG complete alloy diff's for both of my FG's i just finally ordered them actually
