Oh Jeebus Christ should I do it?
I am pretty new at this and my experience is in electric stampede and electric mini baja only.
Maybe this is too big a jump but i was looking at the hpi baja. Ive done plenty of research but i still have some questions.
I am looking for something i can use at the beach in the sand and not get destroyed with sand getting inside everything.
I dont want to go nitro as i read there is too much tuning and maintenance and cleaning. I just dont have the time or patience.
Is gas the same way? I figure its in between electric and nitro as far as those is concerned but i am not sure.
Anyway, i want something durable and that can handle using at the beach. Also, I dont intend to race so i dont care about speed much.
I want something reasonably modded out of the box.
I was actually looking at the e-savage but then I took a look at this giant scale forum and decided i want something bigger than the e-savage.
so i guess it all boils down to three things.
Durable RTR out of the box.
Not much upgrading to do.
and
Can be used at the beach with no damage done to it because of the sand. Also can be used on grass, dirt and pavement.
Thanks for any help

i assume you can use them at the beach since hpi sells paddle tires for it and because thats where close to everyone uses it...
from research, you pretty much have to tune it once and then leave it be.
i also hear it is a great rtr out of the box.
i wish i had the money for one too

Gswede has a few beach vids of dune jumping ( not sure if anyone posted them)
With running on sand, you just need to have a good air filter, and for sure get the outer cover for the pullstarter.
Sand can still ruin engines, but proper maintainance with keeping the intakes clean will help alot as well as if you tape up the chassis vents to prevent sand getting inside the frame.
FWIW, I've ran my engine through huge puddles and mud, and dirt, sand, just about everything possible, and with teh outerwears and a good airfilter, have all but eleminated any internal damages.
HTH.
