building 1/5th
Hello every one
i`m thinking of building my own 1/5th scale (true)baja truck
unlike MCD`s baja 1000 mine will have a solid axle in the rear
but before i start is there any chassis i could use instead of building one?
and since i was ganna go 1/8th with a MGT chassis i need to know parts i should use like axle, engine, ect

RE: building 1/5th
It doesnt sound like you've done your homework first, lol j/k.
I have recomended the Kyosho Mad Force rear-end to many people (right big). RC4WD makes a sweet CNC case for it and also a very strong axles kit.
Heres a link to there Kyosho parts. http://rc4wdstore.com/index.php?cPath=1_14
Very nice stuff
For a chassis, make your own. Go to any metal shop and see if they have any aluminum lying around and cut one out to a size that would fit the axle and your dimensions. Or, since I'm sure you dont have any dimensions, ask for an over size peice and work from there.
This motor http://www.davesmotors.com/store/product1174.html
You can use the front end from your 1/8 scale
Read through this http://www.thorbob.com/baja_project_intro.htm.
This is where i got a lot of my inspiration from and a ton of ideas.
Good luck
if there is anything I can help with feel free to PM me

RE: building 1/5th
yesss it is very expensive to build your own 1/5 scale i allready sol two of my fg series and still need some money to finish off my project it is true that it is going to bee a 8x8
but all custom parts adn than im going to flog it the husqarna engine jus cost me 500 pounds it is true that it is 49 cc but but for 8 wheels you need some power as this is going to be an insane machine.
unfortunately i do not hawe a cnc machine so i have to order the parts to be maid and it is hell of a lot of money exept the radio and the tonegava servos and the breaks and the tyres, everithing is custom made (not the diff gears because thoose are going to bee elcon
already on well over 2000 pounds.
so just letting you know what you stick your head in
ps: just for the bodyshell witch is going to cost mee an anothrer 200 (carbon) will bee custom made as well..........and so on
