Hi TIG Thats my next part to do, to have a rolling chassis. If i cant sourse the right type of wheels then i will have some machined. I have got the front worked out so until i get the wheels i cant start on the front assmbly. Then i will do the plastic body, roll cage, scale crash helmet etc etc. Im extremly pleased with it and think it will look the part and run very well. And man this thing will make some SERIOUS NOISE keep you posted cheers for now JETMAN

So that is a real jet engine on there? How do you even go about getting one of those? How much dose a jet engine cost? Where do you get fuel?

Also it looks awsome. It might be big enough to strap a chair on it and go for a ride. lol.

JET,
What about nitro motorcycle wheels. They make some nice alloy ones. I think they would look sharp in the front of your rail.

Hi nick2618, The jet is a petal valved pulse jet. It cost around £180 so thats about 320 bucks i think. I was very lucky and think that was a very good price, and just phoned a model plane shop and asked if they had any info on a maker of pulse jets. The problem was that the guy said that pulse jets have been banned in the U.K in model aircraft (WHICH THEY HAVE), but he said he had a friend who had bought one a while ago just before the ban was in place. So the jet just sat there in its box unused. As pulse jets go this has to be one of the best around, prouced in italy and beautifuly made. The jet runs on petrol and can burn 1 and a half literes a MINUITE. THESE THINGS ARE EXTREMLY NOISEY Cheers for now JETMAN.

Holy Cow!!!
That thing will be insane! Shoot, if I had that, I'd aim for more of a top speed car than a drag car....But that's just an opinion
Wow is all I can say...I am very impressed and like the look of the frame. I (in all honesty here) was thinking of a frame like that for me so I could avoid the complex welding.
Good luck to you and for those of you not familiar with pulsejets, check this out:

Ok, this one is a dragster (real one):

Hi TOMMY Z Thanks for the comments mate, The 3mm ali frame works really well as when you have two sheets virtical and side by side you can have the lenght and strength with no flexin in the middle. The real hard graft comes frome cutting all the sections of unwanted ali out and shaping the cars shassis, but it is well worth the end result. Im going for some serious speed when this things finished. Thanks for now JETMAN

Hey Jet,

Where did you get that material for the frame???
I gotta know

Yeah, I understand about the cutting and stuff...I figured I could incorporate some artwork there.

onlinemetals.com is a great source for all your metal, plastic and composite needs.

you can also find someone who does lazer cutting, draw a design and send it to them and they can cut you your shape.

They will get wicked hot and can burst into flames if not built right and properly sheilded. I had a friend tell me about one that blew up at an airshow lastyear. Luckily it was in the air away from everyone.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKMLYFVwNVg a good demonstration video.

I don't know too much about them, but they are related to turbines (cousin twice removed maybe).
Basically there aren't any spinning parts inside from what I've gathered. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi tommy z The rear wing is made from some very light weight ali sheet, and the sides are cut and shaped from plastic. The mounting rods are hollow ali tube. Very light but gives the right strenth. The front wing will be made of the some components. Cheers for now mate JETMAN

well this pretty much explains it all... it even sounds abit like a 2 stroke engine, its as if the entire engine is inside the tuned pipe
its actually cheaper than a turbine, but its more expensive to run because its not as fuel efficient... they say that britain banned pulse jets cuz thats what they used on the v1 flying bomb
