ehh some are butted up where i couldnt notch them and some are notched

I kinda understand what your saying,,,, But you should notch/fishmouth all the points prior to welding, I'm not sure of what you are useing to notch them, but a 6 flute end mill works great. and in some cases a 4 flute will work as well.

i use a grinder, it works really good. just a 4 in angle grinder. but like some places you couldnt really weld them up. b/c my buddy who is an engineer said i couldnt really notch them up, so i just went by his saying.
