What sort of FG, on road, stadium, monster, marder or leopard? FG's don't come stock with 2 speeds, its an upgrade part.
Heres a thread about the [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4866322/anchors_4866322/mpage_1/key_top%252Cspeed/anchor/tm.htm#4866322]2 SPEED[/link]

oh, i was talking about the H2 MT, with and upgraded 2 speed, but the rest is stock.
i am planning to buy it RTR, with 2 speed upgrade and brakes and steel spur and pinion, etc.
i might upgrade the exhaust though.
so how fast is it with 2 speed plus exhaust and without exhaust

Gearing will determine your top end, MT's come with 16/48 gearing, you can go and get 18/46 (waiting for mine to arrive now) for more top end, I'm not familiar with 2 speed ratios - check out the link in my prev post for more info. Exhausts make HEAPS of difference in power, which will get you to top speed quicker.
People reckon about 40mph top out of the FG MT, with 2 speed maybe 50 -55mph, try doing a search - there's heaps of threads on it like [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/searchpro.asp?phrase=fg+top+speed&fuzzyMatch=on&author=&forumid=234&topicreply=combined&message=both&timeframe=%3E&timefilter=0&language=single&top=500&criteria=AND&minRank=0&sortMethod=d&submitbutton=+OK+]THESE[/link]

RE: how fast is a stock FG?
I raced a Ninja500 cycle and 2 punks in a VW Jetta with my FGMT and they were shocked at how fast it was.
In the straightline dragrace, I crushed the Jetta, but the cycle was overtaking me as he poped into third gear at 48 mph.
Be sure to load up on the brakes and get some disc for the front also... they really do NOT like stopping on a dime when moving at that speed

RE: how fast is a stock FG?
Here's what I have read over time:
Stock = 38 - 40 mph
Pipe = 45 - 48 mph
Pipe plus 2 speed = 48 - 55 mph
These cars are rev-limited on top speed. The pipe will help get revs up some. Having a 2 speed gives you a low-end ratio and a high-speed ratio to make the most of your engines revs.
As said above gear choice is a big factor in all of this.

I also did a speed run with my DDM pipe and top end remained at 40mph. it's a $200.00 dollar radar gun and i'd say it is pretty acurate

RE: how fast is a stock FG?
Your post with its specs are somewhat correct.
After running about 3-5 tanks,with slight adjustment to the carb,you can get abit more overall speed.
But as he posted before,with the 2 speed after 3-5 tanks and slight adjustments,you can get close to 55mph without the pipe.
Get yourself the version 2 jetpro pipe and you will really be cooking.
Most people say there is no break-in needed on these FG's,but you will have to take it easy for the first 2 tanks,dont punch it too hard off the line,but you can increase the speed as you burn the first tank or 2.
You will see a tremendous increase in speed after the 3 tank.
Drop another post after you reach the 3rd tank and tell us how its going!
Goodluck and enjoy these animals.
In time,get yourself a pair of stadium tires if your looking for speed,you will pick up afew more MPH with these over the MT's.

Cars are made to go fast.. Trucks are made to go over things... Still don't get this fascination with how fast a Monster Truck will go, I wanna know if it'll pull tree stumps...

RE: how fast is a stock FG?
yeah i dont understand how some people think your getting atleast 10 more mph without a pipe. adding only a pipe you wont see a 10mph gain. not without messing with the gearing. the stock gear will only go so fast. Look at the Gopeds. you aint getting any faster top speeds with just a bigger motor drop in. you have to change to a smaller sproket and lost take off (torque) A two speed yes i would bet top nd would change. both no way in hell with stock gearing

RE: how fast is a stock FG?
Hi,
Im not really into big scale cars but ive been looking at the FG F1 car with the hydraulic brakes for a while now...and it looks awesome if it wasnt so expensive. I always peek into this section. Anyone know how much they go for now in AU$$?
I think a pipe may add up 10mph if the gearing supports it, if not all it will add is accelleration and top out faster. Im pretty sure the stock motors powerband doesnt max out the 2 speed gearing. A tuned pipe will unlock the engines power further
