HPI Baja With Reverse!
This was my weekend project from inception to finished prototype in three days. I know it's not practical but it's fun to drive and I'm sure the first of it's kind. For this first go around the shifter ended up getting interfering with the rear wheel which is why I used the front wheel set on the rear. I have a new design where the shifter is moved inboard.

RE: HPI Baja With Reverse!
Sorry this one's not for sale. The concept is pretty simple I think there enough information in the video and pics that someone could copy this.
To evolve on the project I would like to switch from a reverse setup to a CVT setup. I have a rough idea of how to do it I just need to see if it's within my capabilities. All of the turned parts were done on very limited benchtop POS harbor freight mini metal lathe. I am very limited in what I can do with it at the moment. What I wouldn't give for a nice Hardinge.

Very nice work! Congrats on your efforts. Unfortunately, the 5b doesn't give you much room to add stuff to the driveline. Maybe you could try your design in an FG or MCD. ????

You make one for a FG Monstertruck, and I can have it MADE in the thousands for you by making a phone call.

Thats real nice. maybe if it was under a stadium or beatle body it would hide it a bit more.
Do you have any issue's with rock or debrise getting caught in the gears??? You probally already thought over making a cover for your great design ?!

is that the baja clone from modelworks

I've only driven the new tranny for about 15 minutes in a grassy park. I thought about a cover, but then it would look even more bulky than it already is. This reverse kit probably will not be going out any kind of baja bashings in it's lifetime. It was more of a showmanship/can it be done project. The billet spur gears alone (3x heavier than the stock plastic gear, and two of them!) are enough to make anyone shy away from this deadweight.
I suppose if I could clean up the shiffter by moving it inboard. There are some other things I would change and mayben then I would look at how to do a cover. I thought of a welded aluminum cover

I almost feel insulted. LOL, no it's not a clone. I am an old school baja owner (as old as you can get since it's barely a year old now). If you look around you will see that I am one of the first people to start modding a baja with alloy beadlocs, hydraulic front brakes, and gutting and welding stingers to the exhaust can.

Brice, any update to this design yet ?
I've been toying with a few ideas, but no real decisions as to how it would be feaseable without a 4th channel to shift on a servo.
I would like to see how it fits on a larger chassis vehicle like a firehammer. Thanks

I would seriously look into protecting your idea there. I can guarantee you this will hit the market and if you don't do it, somebody else will do it with your design! I would buy one of these rather than a 2-speed kit.
