has the hpi baja ss kit solved all your previous issues
i was looking at the ss kit and i have read the issues with the rtr. It looks like the kit fixed most of the issues with the rtr version. what i want to know has all the problems of the rtr fixed in the kit, or is there still things that need aftermarket support?

I highly doubt the SS will fix all the issues. Now mind you I do not have an SS yet so I am just thinking out loud. I haven't noticed the SS having much changes to the rear suspension other than shocks and a new brace so I suspect you will still need axle extenders to prevent rubbing. It also appears to have the same tires so I would suspect you will see some tearing when you get one until you get some different tires.
But the Baja doesn't have that many issues to begin with so if you are thinking about getting one go for it. You won't regret it.

If your looking for axle extenders there are a few options out, I know these 3 companies make extender that will execpt the stock rims.
Dark Soul
Vertigo Performance
Team Integy
There may be others that could be added to the list, I also know that there are companies that make adapter so that you can run FG wheels.

You still have to build the shocks but they are easy.. I have not had alot of problems with the shocks, but i don't kill the Baja like some of the others here..LOL I have the vertigo extenders and they work fine.. my friend has the darksoul.. they are a bit wider, but they both solve the rubbing issue.. Like Fourwheeler said.. the Baja is a great Buggy.. Its one of the few I will never get rid of...

There are still slight issues with wheel rub but nothing severe. The shocks are said to be up to the task and the diff although not that many had issues have been upgraded to aluminium diff housing.

They only rub while driving. Eventually the rims of the rear wheels wear through the bottom plasitc ball link of the rear shocks. This is due to deflection in the suspension and the rims. There are several solution to this issue. Some are the extenders. Some aftermarket suspension arms relocate the shock so the wheel doesn't rub on the shock. I developed brackets which relocated the shock and stiffened up the rear arms. Most all of these solutions work. However, if you do not use the extenders but one of the other solutions the wheels will rub on the suspension arm and tear up the inner beadlock. And if you have plastic arms the wheels tend to wear through these as well. For this you will need the extenders as it has not been fixed on the SS kit.

Yeah, thanks vertigo, I checked it out after reading Brice's post and thought it might rub there. Mine does not during normal driving but if I am getting good air it does.

I start my build tomorrow.
have 85 % of my parts now... just waiting on a few Manufactuers to speed along the process for some stuff so I can build all of it. Becides , the body and paint job will take me all of a few days anyhow.
Going to tackle this first

Relax will you LOL!!!
Hard cornering will also cause the flex and rub if you plan to race

Yep, I've used them. They are kind of a novelty. The look cool and the may perform well but they are also killer on your suspension. I have an aluminum suspension set on the car that I was using them on. I wouldn't recommend them without using the aluminum uprights.

Good thng I don't have a wife/ live in girlfriend or roommate to yell at me
