Default Competition 1/5 off road?

I see that there are a lot of 1/5 on road competition cars like FG EVO 04, HARM SX3 etc.

Is there any 1/5 competition off road car or not?

I see that there are 1/5 buggies but i don't think that they are competition.

Please i would like to hear your opinion.
Thank you.

Fg is coming out with competition models, they are basically the stock models with all the alloy hop-up parts available from FG. They will have:

baja competition - due out this year
all Monster models in competition versions
all stadium models in competition versions

FG already has a race version of the marder that includes the following parts:
rear ball drives
alloy adjustable shocks
plastic gear cover
clear body option

There is plenty of competition in off-road.
In western europe I would say the competition scene for off-road racing is by far bigger than on-road. At least in Holland, Belgium and the UK that is the case. As there is competition & races so there are off-road competition models from various makes.
There is a choice of LB, Harm, FG, HPI, WWS, Hormann, sorry if I missed one.
To be expected are Elcon and Contrast with a new off-road competiton model.
Plenty of choice I would say.

Last big international race was the Powercup in Belgium (August)
The next international race is the Grand Prix in the UK (first weekend september).
First weekend October all hell breaks loos at the biggest off-road Grand Prix of the year: Spain, Salou.
Then there are numerous local and national races, all well attended.

The Salou races are organised along the WRC rallye races of Catalunya. It is also big time sponsored by Movistar/Telefonica.
Just for the races on the main boulevard directly at the beach a huge track will be build for RC 1/6th scale off-road cars.
Whole Salou will be full with motorsport Rallye minded people.
Here in Holland there are 20 people that rented a complete touring car and making a 2000km drive down there just to catch this biggest event. Then there are numerous other drivers that go there by themselves. Here some info worthwhile reading:

The biggest confusion is, that for onroad they are 1/5 and for off-road, they most often call them 1/6.

Thank you all for your answers.
Where can i find the competition rules for these cars? Engine capacity, length, width, weight ....etc?
Also can you please give me more information about the models?
Are they need any hop ups to be competitive or not?
Can you name please some models.
I think that the prices are more logical than the 1/8 off road category.
I have spend a lot of money for 1/8 and especially for engines. (plugs, fuels, spare parts, modified engines etc.)
Thanks again

the car to beat at the moment in the off road popularity stakes is the hoermann HT2. very reliable tough competitive car. although the HT1 is still as competitive in the right hands and my current choice. elcon are about to release a full alloy race car that can be seen running in prototype form (i believe)at the EFRA UK GP next weekend at notts and derby.

Then visit the contrast website.
It is on there already for some time.

As far as I know they were not competeing with the car yet (at least not on any international races) but they intend to do so in Salou.
Some former world champ will be behind the sticks, in his hands any car can fly.
If the car will hold up it can probably win, if it doesn't it is exit.
Personally I have some serieous doubts, but maybe the car will differ from what they show in the pics or maybe I am wrong. Time will tell.

i agree with your views on the strength, the contrast doesn't look strong on the 4 corners, the arms and hubs look too weak.although there have been upgrades to the pictures i saw.

I am not so much worried on the hubs or arms, depends most on what grade of alloty they will use, then it can be made very light.
The spring system to take impacts will have to prove itself. As far as I know it works on their Neo, but impacts may be more harse in off-road. But the hubs & arms I suppose might survive rather ok.

More concerned I am about the position of the shockabsorbers. I would rather see them inside the arms being protected rather than in front or at the rear being exposed to direct impacts. Maybe they'll have a magical bumper ???

Can you please post the updated pics, i am very curious.
