RE: Who makes thie Ford GT 5th scale?
No sure but thats a nice car. the top of the add says 21cc but the specs read 23cc zenoah... i though i saw a tuned pipe on there, from the video it dosent make much of a difference.. Disc brakes are a plus !! I'd buy it just because it's a ford gt lol.. But i dont know what brand it is.. and getting parts is another thing to worry about, i'll try and find out what this thing is

It's the Smartec/Carson FG Sportline knock off... A guy had the Smartec version out Sunday and the tires were absolute garbage...

Wow - didn't know they had such a conflicting history. For $650 you have to admit they seem like a good buy- even comes with a FM radio w/failsafe........engine radio etc seems like a good buy even tho parts support is lacking.

Disc brakes also that seem to stop pretty good.... other then the sliding when stopping... that could be cured with better tires i bet

I have an XRC it is C#$%! Slow beyond slow.
Also have the Hobbypro Ford GT its great value and the tires are not crud as posted above.
VS Modelsports has the Hobbypro cars much better value then the FG sportsline.
Hobbypro you get rear sway bar, front brakes, body, pipe and radio stock for a whole lot less.
Hobbytron gyped the importer JHC out of 500K worth of product.

You get what you pay for ...
That GT body looks like a kid molded it out of clay.
The motors are chinese made knock off Zenoah's.
Parts are not readily available here in the states for them,,although some minor parts will interchange with the sportline.
The differents is in the craftmanship...

RE: Who makes this Ford GT 5th scale?
I have been to the warehouse in Arcadia they have PLENTY of parts and I dare you to find a part on a FG sportsline that is better Motor is ok but its a starter car your not getting a Zenoah but a Zenoah will bolt right in if you want one. So far the car is great and for the money it is hard to beat. Just wish Hobbytron did not mess up distribution.
The body is heavy and not lexan buit it is not the cost of lexan either.

Its no Molzer Mowery RS5 or FG EVO but neither is a sportsline race an out of the box Hoppypro and out of the box sportsline at $1,00 each you get more with the Hobbypro and it will win (pipe, sway bar and brakes make up for the minor power loss of not having a Zenoah).
If you want a RACE ready 1:5 scale on-road get a MMR FG or RS5.

RE: Who makes this Ford GT 5th scale?
K-Spindle...
I am very curious as to what you are referring to regarding HobbyTron. I have been curious about this HobbyPro Ford GT for several months now. Since I stumbled across it on HobbyTron's site. I have been following "debates" about this car across several large-scale forums, but you are the first and only poster I have come across who actually owns one. I have been waffling back and forth, trying to decide whether to try one of these or not. I have a Baja 5B, and would like an onroad car also. My thought was, for $650 how could I go wrong. But the parts availability situation could easily be a serious issue. Anyway, I would really like to know your opinion of this car and your experience with it so far. And where would you get parts? Also, I would like to understand better what you mean about HobbyTron when you say, "Hobbytron gyped the importer JHC out of 500K worth of product" and "Just wish Hobbytron did not mess up distribution". If they are not whom I should do business with, I would want to know that before going any further. I could not figure out why this car was $895 everywhere else, but $650 at HobbyTron. Thanks.

RE: Who makes this Ford GT 5th scale?
original.mb the Ford GT is a Hobbypro car not XRC or Technokit JR.
Technokit Jr is the same as the XRC car now even the Technokit comes out of the XRC China factory. If you want I can give you the contact details they are $240 FOB China (you have to buy 50 to get that price) THEY ARE JUNK I will sell you mine for $100. less body it is crap-olla.
Now on topic: The Ford GT
Importer JHC-888.com delivered to Hobbytron a great deal of them ( a container full) Hobbytron has not paid in fact they sold some below the price they were to pay JHC thus a thinking person would say they never intened to pay in the first place. JHC is now selling to FG Supply (VS Modelsport) a very fine distributor of large scale cars / parts plus they are selling direct JHC-888.com (dealers contact James Hann if your not a VS dealer) you can even get them with the Nomadio React radio!
Car and Parts:
PROS:
PARTS are in stock and cheap, two warehouses full, anyone telling you they do not have parts does not know what is going on, I have been there and seen them!
Front brake system BETTER then FG
With Pipe
With Sway Bar
Parts Bolt directly with FG parts however the Hobbypro parts are good quality
Cons:
Shock springs are too long you need to cut the springs to bring the car down to a normal on road drive height.
Body is heavy (tough as nails though)
Futaba OEM radio with failsafe exactly the same as comes with the HPI Baja not my choice but for RTR its fine.
Driving:
Car set up with a normal set up drives faster then other "entry" level sportsline type cars Harm basic, FG sportsline, Technokit JR, Bergonzoni, SVM because its got the front brakes, sway bar and pipe its just faster.
Setting up the car is easy straight forward.
Motor is fine in fact in sportsman class in the USA we run a plate in the manifold before the pipe so all the motors are equal so not having a Zenoah is no real deal at all.
Parts are cheap and in stock not a problem there and if not a Hobby Pro part get an FG part they work
Ok let me tell you who I am so you understand I sort of know what I am saying here.
I have been racing 1:5 scale from the early 90s
I have imported 1:5 scale cars, Lauterbacher, Bergonzoni, SVM and Technago cars
Built KZ Speedway for 1:5 scale
Planned and Hosted the 1:5 scale worlds
Arranged the H.A.R.M. and FG importation to the USA for AP and for VS.
I am sponsored by MMR I race a RS5 for them. (BUY from my sponsor if they wanted they could carry the GT too if they wanted is the key here!)
That said is the GT a value? You bet
My son and his GT at SV (KZ) Speedway
