I dont have an idea but mine have stripped before.. i would think it would have to do with not having those shims behind the bevels gears.. the only logical thing it could be. i still dont have those in though, mine fell out with the drive when diff cups popped out from a prior accident

what stripped, the gear it self or the shaft that goes into the gear? I have stripped my out drive shaft and just had it welded to the bevel gear. no problems since. I have found the parts to make another whole rear diff but back then parts were scarce.

Stripped the bevel gear teeth not the the shaft. shafts still turn the bevel gears.

Cougar, is it possible you got a rock jammed in the drive gears, and it mangled the mesh and it simply sheared off the teeth inside, or you had a small piece of metal come loose in the gearbox, and it ground down the gear?
I've had stuff like that happen in electric Associated RC-10 gearboxes with metal/plastic gears that loose a tooth or a chunk of a tooth.

Sounds like the gears are not shimmed correctly in the diff case. If the gears are not shimmed correctly, they will not mesh perfect causing them to strip under pressure.

Do I need to put shims behind each gears?
Manual doesn't show the shims needed.

another thing that will cause severe diff gear damage is when you have a completely unlockoed diff and for some reason you hav a wheel spinning out and the other stuck in place, kinda like when working your way out of dirt and giving full throttle when only one whell spins. this is hard on the gears and a common break point.
