well i've decided to step up to the baja
i've made my choice, i'm going be be buying a gasser, and most probably the baja because they are so easy to get parts for, i have $460 towards it at the moment, and they are $1399, give it a month and it will be on its way, probably the SS as well as i already got a radio to go in it, and i'm liking the idea of 26cc over 23, plus the other little bits here and there.
now the question is, what hop ups should i order to go with it? the ss comes with a pipe, but whats another good one, i can choose between the DDM and TGN pipes, i like the look of the DDM one so i'm thinking that, and the steering servos i've heard are fairly dodgey, that can be fixed, what other hop ups are worth the money right outa the box, i've looked at [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMIcriAI2Jw]this[/link] stroker crank from ddm and liked the look of it, but whats the opinions on it?? and more importantly, what spare parts are common breakages? soon enough i'll be joining you guys in here.

Its fine out of the box, especially the SS version.
Get a pullstart cover and a pre-filter, and a metal gear servo (the SS may have it already im not sure) And you're all set.

Tower hobbies still says Mid October, I'd imagine it'll be available pretty soon.
I may have to get one, either that or a Leopard, I miss buggies :|

well, from what i heard is that they are postponing the release of the SS.[:@]
I might just have to get the RTR, since the price has dropped so much. *sigh* in debate whether i should sell my FG or not[&:]

I mean this in the least offensive way possible, but if you somehow think that if you own a Baja instead of an FG you wont have any problems, you're sadly mistaken.

cmon man, i just heard that the Baja handles better, and the parts are a lot easier to get since most LHS around here carries them
you know what, screw it, there's nothing wrong with having both , since the wife allows it, even more excuse to have both [>:]

RE: well i've decided to step up to the baja
what are the common breakages though? my best source of parts is online, so if i can get a few spares i'm laughing, a arms? shock towers? shock shafts? whats should i get.
i will at least be getting a new pipe for it, if i choose to go with the RTR, i really dont like the idea of running something on par with the muffler on my lawn mower on something so nice, plus it doesn't cost that much.

Don't sell your FG. I would wait for the SS. You'll regret it if you get rid of your other large scale (at least I know I would). I have a Firehammer MT and a Baja 5b and wouldn't think of selling either at this point. They both are a blast. If one breaks, at least I have another to fall back on until I get it repaired!

isn't it amazing how off topic a thread can get without actually answering the basic questions/s it was created for...

Common breakages are shock shafts and arms, maybe an extra spur gear or two. Also order the heavy duty drive shafts (or check out Turtle Racing for an upgrade). The DB tires suck on the Baja. Check out www.hostilehobby.com for MX's. They are AWESOME tires. Phatshafts are aftermarket shock shafts. Also a-arms (ramtech) although companies like rdlogics have these parts now. Whether they would be as good as ramtechs...don't know. Check out here:

Hope this helps a little!

look for Phatdaddy shock shafts. i heard they are super strong and they have lifetime warranty. Oh, and make sure you buy the later version of the baja since the older version has arm rubbing problem.
good luck, hopefully i will be joining you soon.
FG ST for street race, and baja for off road race.

RE: well i've decided to step up to the baja
Get an MCD 4wd Baja 1000 for 1500 bucks. It doesn't have an engine, but better quality and parts availability.
What you are looking at is probably the Smartech Titan 4wd converted to a 4wd buggy.

I am trying to decide between the Hammer MT and the 5B. I am concerned about the ground clearance on the 5B. How is it compared to the MT. Which one is better for all around conditions.
