Default 6 Hours Charging???

Hey, i get my brand new Baja 5b RTR and i read the manual. About the charging, it says CHARGING ONLY 6 HOURS. What if i charge it a little bit? What if i let it charging all night long? Is it going to hurt the batteries or something?

Well, acording to the manual, its charger is not a "auto" setup, it will keep charging after battery is fully charged and that can hurt the battery. The baja has a standard connector on like what is used on the electric cars and you can use some of the chargers for the car batts on it. ONLY if the charger is capable of charging batts other than a sic cell car pack. For instance I have a Prophet charger that auto senses what kind of pack and how many cells it has and will charge it in approx 1/2 to 1 hour. I would not recommend charging at over 1c ( 1X capacity) in other words 2000 mah battery charge at 2000 mah or 2 amps. I would use their charger for the initial "slow" or "saturation" charge for the first time though. If you only charge alittle bit you risk a runaway rig. The failsafe is not foolproof.

The charger charges at such a low rate that you can leave it on for 24 hours. The pack will get warm. If it gets hot then you need to worry.
If you don't charge the battery full the first time it can affect future full charges.

I agree with Cyclops but yes a 24 hour charge should do no damage. I have been in the hobby for 24 years and melted, burnt and corroded packs. I have never had one over charge on a dead slow charger.
300mah is .3 amps not very much.

I wouldn't do this unless the pack was near dead.

The manual states for 6 HOURS charging. How confusing can it be? [&:] Why u broke up the initial charging proccess for? Never interrupt a cell/pack from initializing. It's a critical procedure allowing the cell/pack LEARNING the charging cycle and determing its future behavior. NOW?????

I totally understand! I also have a feeling with in a month or two youwill be buying/building a better bat pack like I am. I plan on getting or making a 4000 to 4800 mah pack for mine. I mean the manual says at most the RX bat will last 45 min, problem is it only takes 1 - 2 mins to refuel. You will probably also end up with a faster charger too.

1-2 minutes to refuel? I don't know for the other FG or something but the baja's refueling is piece of cake. 10-25 seconds.
