Titan 4x4 Truck Good Value for Co$t
Hey, guys. I just got my new Titan 4x4. After 2 years of playing primarily with MCD vehicles (Baja 1000, Monster Truck, Rally Car) and an HPI Baja 5b, I decided to add an economy car to my fleet. To my surprise, the truck seems to be very well built. The shock absorbers are HUGE! The shock shafts are 6mm in diameter just like the new HPI Baja SS. The size of the shocks remind me of the shocks on a Losi LST2. The suspension works very well. The arms made of thick plastic. I see lots of opportunity for alloy upgrades if bling is you thing.
The 28cc engine that comes with the vehicle runs well and starts easily. The new Jetpro pipe for this truck should be in stock at LargeScaleRC on Friday....so I'm told. I think the addition of this pipe will give the 28cc powerplant the extra umph to make some good power. LSRC has tested the new pipe and said it works really well. I'll comment on the pipe once I've had a chance to run it. LargeScaleRC is also offering an EXTREME version with a 30.5cc engine and Jetpro pipe for $400 more. I'm going to keep mine stock and just add the Jetpro pipe when it comes in.
Finally, a large scale vehicle that comes stock with all steel gears and a gear guard!!! The gears are a little noisy, but I think I have a fix for that. I'll share my idea later if it works.
I ordered my truck with the 3 channel Hitec Aggressor radio. This is the standard radio that comes with their Ready to Run package. Since the radio has a dual conversion receiver, I haven't noticed any glitches or bizaar happenings. The range is very good. I use the 3rd channel on my radio for an engine kill switch that plugs into the 3rd channel on the receiver. This is a very cool feature. Normally, I would have upgraded the radio system and had LSRC install a Spektrum receiver in exchange for the Hitec radio, but all of my other vehicles are on my main radio and none of my friends can run any of my vehicles while I'm driving. Hummmm...what am I getting myself into by letting friends drive my stuff? Oh yeah, this is the Econo ride.
I really think the main reason that I bought the truck is for it's looks and it's value. Look at thing! The painted body looks great and the wheels are awesome! The body can either set low on the truck like a truggy or it can be raised up with the included body post extensions to make it look like a monster truck. I'm going to try a different body on it later to see what else fits.
I hope my comments help others who have questions about the truck.

The Asgard body was adapted to fit the truck. It is not a direct fit and would need some mods to the mounting system on the truck in order to use the body.

Now that I have had a chance to see it driven & drive one myself. This thing is very cool. Has like a 1/5 scale truggy look & feel to it. I have to say it soaks up bumps very well with the Huge shocks on it. It is very stable in turns & runs pretty well. The stock engine doesn't seem to have the RPM of a CY style engine, but it not real bad. The steel gears I agree are awesome ! The cover is definitely a bonus, I think all vehicles should come with some sort of one. Although I would say Most don't have any. I'm thinking of adding one to my collection as well. The 1/5 scale 4 wheel drive market is very slim. The MCD's will always rule in my opinion. My Baja1000 is the Baddest truck on the planet. O.K. I'm sure I favor it, being as I get to drive it ! Currently picking up an MCD Rally car to get ready for spring. As we can Not really compare between vehicles & manufacturers between these two. They are completely different in the way they are designed & built, for being so similar in description. From what I see here 1/5 scale & large scale vehicles in particular are coming on strong. The easy of running them alone is handy for the average busy person of today. Length of run time is another huge bonus, not available in any other forms of vehicles with close to this performance. For now I give the Titan a thumbs up for great completely new design, with a bright future. When my cash reserve builds up again, after finishing my rally car. It's on my To get list. I gotta be honest here though the stock radio, needs to go. The servos sound funny & I'm guessing will soon be an issue. Having one with this already replaced by the Hitec unit will be much better. The coming pipe from JetPro will be a huge improvement as well.

My Asgard body arrived yesterday! Here is the Titan with the Asgard body and MCD Baja1000 wing. I love this look.
Oh, by the way, Large Scale RC has a full line of parts for this truck. Luckily, I haven't needed anything yet. The parts are cheap!!!
krayziedxc - You asked about MCD tires and wheels. The tires and wheels are interchangable between Smartech, FG, and MCD. They all have the same square wheel mounting hub.

RC Chaos,
Looks awsome, and with all the money you save over the MCD you will probably have a liftime supply of parts. Titan $1,299, MCD baja truck RTR $2,050 difference is $750 bucks. I bought a cheaper Hobby pro car over an FG sportline this time, and I think the money was well spent. The quality of the copies are far better then I expected and the parts are really cheap. $60 bucks for a replacement body, replacement front rotors for the brakes a whopping $1.50, how can you possibly go wrong

Very nice, I like the Asgard body on it. Looking to buy one of these trucks for my son for his b-day. He's only 4, but this past season he was running a 5th scale sportline with me at our track. The kid's a freak. He has amazing hand-eye coordination for his age. He's not fast on the track, but for him to make any laps at all is a feat in itself. Now he wants something to blast around the backyard with.

Yeah, it was a great deal...just dont hit anything with it. I recently bought the same car. I was running it in the street, lost control of it and I just "grazed" the right front tire into the tire of my real car and the lower control arm broke right off the hinge pin. I replaced it with a new part from FG. I do believe its better plastic. After fixing that, got it back out and hit a curb dead on. Well, that bent the chassis just in front of the engine mounts. Im seriously thinking about buying the FG comp chassis and just swapping everything over. Nice thick aluminum!!! The tires are crap. Its like driving on ice with this car. Gotta get good soft tires for it to hook up....it should fly then because that motor screams!! You plan on bringing yours up to the train station this season? I just HAVE to race against another one of these.

Looks good RC Chaos, do you have any pictures with the body off I am curious how they did the drive, is it shaft, belt, chain, I want to see the guts. Great deal for a Large scale rc though.
