RE: ELCON Cleon, a dutch design...
Contrast Fuego did, driven by the Spanish on-road national champion Joseph Amat.
Very smart pilot of the world top level.
He won also the very first edition 11 years ago of the race, at that time held at Lloret del mar.
There were by far more Hormanns competing and Contrast had a team of world champions arranged with Lissau and Roskamp.
Putting it in this daylight the Cleons performed outstanding.
They were a minority as competing cars in the complete field of +60 pilots.
But outnumbered other makes making the finals with 4 cars and 2 on the podium, in most likely the strongest competitors off-road racing field of 2008.

RE: ELCON Cleon, a dutch design...
after 2 years elcon re-designed the cleon and bring now the cleon MMX.
You can even download a full 3D file of the model which you can rotate etc . [sm=tongue_smile.gif]
You need to download edrawings viewer from solid works to be able to open his file.
This free CAD tool you can find here:
http://www.solidworks.com/sw/product...-downloads.htm
The car to beat in competition for 2010?
Here some pics.
But the 3D file to watch that is way more interesting !
Then you can zoom, slice, turn the car etc etc etc.

RE: ELCON Cleon, a dutch design...
i converted my FG MONSTER to cleon spec.
it is complete elcon alloy, basicly a cleon dropped on an fg chassis
elcon is the way to go,nothing else comes close!
that new version looks good
its amazing how they take poor r/c design flaws and improve on them & i mean they have been reworking so many poorly designed r/c parts now for so long that it is impossible to improve on them, they just simply make the best BETTER......
i dont know how they make the products and designs that they achive, quite stunning!

RE: ELCON Cleon, a dutch design...
definitely a nice unit for racing...$2800+ for a roller from what i gather...makes the contrast look like a bargain at $2400[&:]
that's what all upgrade vendors do...ie vertigo, turtle, phatdad etc
if you made an inferior upgrade you wouldn't be in business for too long, it's funny that no one else really bothered with FG upgrade parts and not just talking chassis/drivetrain parts...guess it's because they make about a million of their own so no one else really bothered (which is surprising as they're not cheap and most of elcon's comparative parts are actually cheaper than FG ones) and also many upgrade companies are based in the USA and FG haven't been a huge seller over this side of the pond...just have to look at the amount of products avaliable for the 5b/T compared to the FG. Shame really cos the more choice the better

RE: ELCON Cleon, a dutch design...
thenew Cleon looks very very nice....
Wonder if one should trade the "old one" for a new one..
No your FG MB is NOTHING like the cleon!
You also have all the nice alloy yes, but it will never be anything like driving a Cleon
(I am only writing this because I have a FG leopard upgrade with all the shine bits, and a Cleon.. These 2 car cannot be compared, the handling difference is SO big you wouldn't dream of it.
The Leopard is a good car, no doubt... )

Same here. I had a Leopard Race with many nice Elcon parts on it and then a Lauterbacher Supercross. My Elcon Cleon drives like it's on rails. I'll have to keep an eye out for anyone selling parts from the original Cleon for spares then!! One you drive one you will see how nice it is.

Haven't even tried to start my Leopard since I got the Cleon last year... A bit sad to have such a nice car sitting around...

The MMX version looks pretty good. If I didn't have my Cleon I'd get one for sure. Best buggy I've driven, built and worked on hands down.
