Hump pack only I believe. The cheapest premade rx pack is the HPI NiCd 2400mAh pack, but I would recommend the HPI 3000mAh NiMH pack at least. It's around $34 and available anywhere the 5B is.
I used some Intellect 4200 matched cells I had sitting around and made my own hump pack.

I went to cheapbatterypacks and had them make a 4600 mah 5 cell Nimh pack. It lasts virtually 4+ tanks of gas before needing a charge. (I have a voltwatch hooked up to the system and after 4 tanks it still has @ 30% left before it dumps)[sm=71_71.gif]
It ran me @ 42.00 built with receiver plug and charging plug attached.

So you run power straight from the battery to the servos? Black/Red wires straight from the pack to the servos/receiver and then only the white wire coming from the receiver to the servos?

You don't have to. Depends on the rating of the receiver, I don't have to do it with either of my biggies and my FG battery regularly has 7.7v after a good cycling.

no the rec gets power from the battery in through the chan 1 port, but the bec on the rec is only 5v, so running a 6v battery with the regular setup is pointless. i will try to lnk the y harness=servo

I do not like those servos cause they have nylon gears and tend too break pretty easy...JMO....

i dont plan on rivaling evel kenevel with my baja so i think i'll be ok. on another note the metal gear upgrade will put the $$$ tag at about what i would spend for a digital servo with less umph..... lets see, 850mah draw, 4200mah capacity, thats what, five hours of run time? [8D] works for me.....

Heh its funny, i got 2 tanks with my 2500mah (5x AA GP 2700 NiMH) today and it still has good charge left in it, just goes to show the quality of the cells has a big part to play.

That is not the correct charger for that battery.....you need a NIMH Style charger not a NICAD charger like you have shown.....

RE: Receiver pack for Baja 5b SS
Get a good charger. Even for just receiver packs, it's worth it. In my opinion, a good charger has the following minimum specs...
Ability to do nimh and nicd (and ideally li-po)
Discharge function (at least 6A)
Charge Function (at least 6A)
Cycle function (at least 2 in a row)
Personally I use an orion advantage. It's a great charger. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXLVB1&P=ML Charge and discharge up to 10A, cycling, battery memory (presets), does li-po up to 2s.
When I was in the shop lookin at it, I was thinking... This is a lot of money just to charge receiver packs, but my consumer instinct overrode this thought and I bought it. I'm really glad I did. It's taken the guesswork out of charging. Shows exactly how many mAh it discharges, and how many it charges. I now know which of my batteries is good and which isn't. When I got my RTR HPI Baja, the stock battery was in cell reversal. First charge held 39mAh :-S . 6 cycles later, it was holding a full charge. That saved me 40E on the first day. IMO, it's a no-brainer. I wish someone had told me just how much it was worth it, years ago.
