lol. You're gonna have a lot of angry lauterbacher people in here with sharpened pitchforks!!
There is no relationship between FG and lauterbacher, only generic parts are compatible, clutches, etc, and no they are NOT FG knock offs.

ok, just because there is this deal on Ebay for Lauterbacher - but i do not want the hassle of having to order parts left and right! Like, there is no local store for them! http://cgi.ebay.com/FG-Lauterbacher-...QQcmdZViewItem

The X-link is a fine car ,the shame of it,you will have to deal with Lauterbacher when you need something.
You can also goto Rapid for parts not do deal with Lauter direct...,we no longer deal with Lauterbacher ,we don't see eye to eye on the way they conduct business and make and break business agreements.
Good luck

I think it depends on what you are looking for. If you take any LS and start replacing plastic to aluminum you cost will double. In the long run if you want something good you end up paying for it. I was fortunate to get a new L3 from a friend at a "used" price. I know I saved a good $1000 this way.
Keep in mind if you don't have good sources for parts you may want to get something else.
