One thing I don't like about the HPI Baja...
Not the car itself, more like about getting replacement parts. I found out if you need one plastic part you have to buy the whole tree of parts that it comes on. That's rediculous. I wanted to get a front lower shock guard that I broke. One per tree too, $17.50 for it. Well, at least I can live without that part. And out of all those machined alum. parts the aftermarket manufacturers make, nobody makes that because I haven't been able to find it.
Also now that I have four tanks of fuel through my SS I was getting flameouts yesterday. So after running I figured I should have a look at the spark plug. It was loose. It was never tightened, no big deal. It was also nice and flat black. I haven't adjusted the carb at all. Needs a drop of leaning I guess. Also I noticed one of my half-shaft boots already needs replacement as it is splitting at one of the pleats. Not under warranty either. But at least you can get the boots seperately. I'll be ordering them at the hobby shop tomorrow.

They do that to save themselves a lot of work and you a lot of money. If they had to pay someone to cut all the pieces from the sprue, give them individual part numbers, put them into their own bags each with a different printed label, and store them all in seperate bins in the warehouse, and file all the seperate numbers in the inventory system, etc... etc... It would have probably cost you more like $27.50 for just the single part you needed from that tree. Hpi isn't the only company to do this both OFNA and Losi also sell multiple parts as a tree or bag full. Look at it this way if you break one of the other parts it will cost you nothing extra because you will already have a spare ready to go! [)]

My 5B was down for 2 weeks waiting for a-arms... This thing is a little tricky to get parts for.
A lot of guys said that as soon as I went 'gas' I wouldn't go back. I don't agree. I like gassers, but the 5B is and will be my only one. Nitro is still my favorite.

I found that with HPI and geting parts for my Savage, lots of stuff you don't need, and one part you do.

I also strongly disagree, parts are real easy to get.

Ahhh finally one thing we can do better in little Denmark, here we have about 7-8 shops with a lot of spares in stock, both for HPI Baja and FG, and i dont think that the parts are expensive.

it would be alot easier if DDM sold spares for nitro models aswell like all the savages x4.6 and so on , and i know what you mean about wanting only one baja5b part but getting a tree of them lol like i wanted only the light pods but then found out it comes attatched to the whole roll cage aswell for $20 something dollars its a joke if you ask me

The 5b is not hard to get parts for just shop around also your local Hobbytown USA sell baja 5b parts, Also you will have to buy a tree just to get one part but look at it this way those x-tra parts you will not have to buy when the time comes for the need of them...also your running buddy's might need one of those x-tra parts to keep them going. Me and my bud's swap parts all the time it sure beats waiting on UPS,DSL, FEDex, USPS, and back orders[sm=wink_smile.gif].
