Just announced - new engines from Zenoah!
Zenoah has just announced the release of the G240RC and G270RC engines. These are basically updated versions of the G230RC and G260RC, the cylinder is now a 4-bolt and a number of other improvements have been made.
Info in English: http://www.mediafire.com/?ycgmmbnmm2g
Info in Spanish: http://www.mediafire.com/?u1fudznnmte
Owners Manual: http://www.mediafire.com/?7cvtnmdldjx
Will Zenoah ever release a larger cc version? In our communications with them, we believe the answer is yes, but it will probably just be an upgrade kit (35 or 36mm), not a complete engine. Also that would be something that will not be available for a number of months at the soonest, it is still not something that is finalized or in production.
We will have these engines available (limited quantities) in a couple weeks. Pricing will be a bit higher than the Existing 230RC/260RC, as would be expected. Zenoah is NOT discontinuing the 230RC/260RC.
One other thing: These engines are 22.5cc and 25.4cc, the only reason Zenoah named them 240RC and 270RC is so they are not confused with the existing 230RC and 260RC.
Way to go Zenoah!

So, if they're 23cc and 26cc engines again, what are the actual differences? Not just the 2 extra head bolts surely? Any more info at this point about the 'number of other improvements'? Thanks for the info though, Ryan, welcome news indeed.

Redesigned crankcase, additional crank bearing, redesigned cylinder fins for better cooling, larger ports, 813 carb stock, better insulator gasket, etc. Download the product announcement for full details.

Hm. I read it, but I don't really feel any the wiser, as I haven't seen the performance curves of the original engines (I'll search for em later), can you experts at DDM just tell us what we can expect from these engines? More torque? More RPM? What are the practical benefits gonna be? It's strange to see the dyno results stop at 15,000 rpm. I thought the point of adding extra bolts was to prevent blowing gaskets at higher rpm?

for boats ok you can choke it with your finger no air cleaner....
with our air cleaners and the 813s no choke its makes it more challanging to start the engine

A 4 bolt head and larger transfers means higher RPM, more power, and reduced gasket blowout. Just because the dyno sheet stops at 15K doesn't mean the engine won't rev past 15k (it just makes far less power up there) - download the owners manual linked above and the no load RPM is still 19,500.

Yeh, I realise the figures drop off the higher you go, but I think what we all want to see from a 4 bolt engine, is a dyno readout showing 23k+ rpm. Lunatik?? Where are you? lol. Thanks for the links Ryan.

Finally a better quality Zen I had a base gasket blow out, poor design having only 2 bolts holding the pot to the crankcase IMO. Way to go Zenoah, leading in engineering.

hey RYAN would or could they ever make a piston bigger than 36mm that fits the cy engines or the TS induction crancases ? the TS cases have a skirt width of 40mm so it should be possible for them to make a head kit larger than 36mm

Has anyone experienced problems with the metal insulator block and/or the gaskets (not the head gasket) leaking?

RE: Just announced - new engines from Zenoah!
I have had my 4 bolt 26cc in now for about 2 weeks.
Out of the box, it started up on the 2nd pull and idled great. I decided to do a cycle brake-in recommended by Angle. So I did then installed it. It starts up like a champ and has plenty of power. Much more then then the Stock CY26 in the Baja. What makes this engine good for me is the smooth powerband all the way up and down. Its extremely proportional to the trigger.
Pulls real nice and has an abundance of grunt on the low end using a Rear Dom. From there it starts to get on the pipe and has a great linear feel all the way up and down the mids to the upper range of the highs then flattens out at the top. For my normal driving habits mostly at this point on-road and on packed dirt the low grunt is overkill and mids and the smooth linear feel of the powerband all the way up is great.
This is the first time I have used this carb on any engine. Its takes some getting used to not having a choke.
Ill never go back to the CY 26 after installing the Zen 4 bolt. Its a super all around engine. Pick you pipe and go have fun.
On a side note when installing it in an HPI Baja, you will need to use a CY clutch housing or modify your spacer on the bottom mount.

The insulator block is plastic, not metal.

Having read the press release again I see that the insulator gasket is now made of metal - has this given rise to any problems?

Sorry, my mistake.

The insulator gasket is impregnated with metal, not pure metal. It seals as well as prior versions but is more durable.
