If you can do it, why not

Crazy stuff like that is part of what makes the hobby fun.

it sounds like a nice project. but dont plan on running it. our 5b's have a hard enough time keeping our driveline parts together with a 30.5cc.. you can hit 7 horses with a 29 or a 30.5. sounds like a lot of wieght for a couple extra ponies..

I'd say go for it...driveline parts are cheap and besides you can beef those up on your own

If it only lasts 2 minutes it would make some cool video.

we converted a stihl 090 (120cc) engine for an RC race plane and it would spin a 24 x 24 (24" dia x 24" pitch) prop at 9500 rpm. that engine at an unmodded state will spin only 13,000 rpm. just setting that engine on a 5b would probably crush the chassis and there aint no way the gear train would absorb that much power and vibrations

at least start with something like this

oh and carry lots of liability insurance

the newer saws have plastic outer cases which means that the engine block is seperate and can be easily removed from the saw frame, my 36cc husky saw is like that. in the old days they were all cast and you would have to cut the engine from the saw frame. so look for a saw thats all plastic body. sometimes you can find a manual online that has an exploded view of the saw
