What is the purpose of this part? Baja 5B SS
I just finished putting together my Baja and was wondering what the plastic part #85414 on page 21 is for. It slides back and forth about 1/4 " and has one screw holding it down with a open hole at the other end. The manual says nothing about it. I even called HPI and they didn't know for sure but said it is probably for a type of servo and not needed with the HPI servo. Anybody know what this part is for, I'm just curious about it. Sorry if this is a waste of space on the forum, I tried searching but found nothing.

No one seems to know what it is for, I am guessing it might be for some future upgrade or conversion, but for now, I just leave it off, but I do hang on to them.

I'm pretty sure its a servo part that you'd only need if you use a different brand. 85414 refers to the whole parts tree, but it's all servo related.

If you put a button head screw in the open hole, it will keep the servo arm from over extending. It slides fore and aft to center the screw under the servo arm.

im not sure if im speeking of the right part, but i think you are refering to a small plastic peice that attaches to the chassis in front of or under the stearing servo. your supposed to screw in a small button head screw to the top of the plastic peace. what it does is stop the servo from overthrowing itself and binding the wheels. you will mainly notice this when the radio gear is off. if you manually turn the wheels to the left, the servo horn will spin under itself and get stuck there wich is a pain in the neck, couse you have to stick your fingure in there to slide the servo horn back up or the wheels will be locked. you need to adjust the button head screw so that it doesnt limit the stearing throw.

Hey guys, thanks for the quick replies. The idea of it being a stop for the servo horn when manually overturned with momentum to the left sounds right, I checked my Baja and it makes perfect sense of its purpose.

Previous to figuring out what it was I kept cambering (not a word) over my servo.. I just don't know why HPI Doesn't tell us what it is for

Wow learn something every day.
I thought it was for, and adjusted it against the servo in thoughts that it may add some kind of support.
Looking at it now it make perfect sense.
Thanks guys.
