Default RE: 1/4 Scale 1934 Ford Frame

hello mate, looking good!

Have a look at this http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...s+hemi+chassis

it's a model A, not a '32, inspiring nevertheless.

Hey Mate
Do you have any photos of the plastic 34 Ford kits that you do. I might have someone interested in a couple.
Thanks
Dan

I don't know why, but half the photos posted in this thread now don't appear, so from now on I'll only be posting updates on my website. See signature. Thanks.

Thanks Doc.
I sent you an email. Keen to get a price on a complete body kit.
Pic of another project under way. It's come a long way since this photo with all the residual bars now welded in. I'm not welder so I'd rather be working on the 34 Fords.

Been working on a few projects, but have finally decided to get back in and finish the 34 Fords. This one is another I picked up recently. The other one was back on the first page.
This one has just had a mild resto with a new original WCM body to go on it.
Future updates will be posted on Brad and my website.

Interesting I got an email from this site about your post mate......I thought I had deleted all my RC user ID's
If it's any help, CAD files aren't difficult to do up mate. Any competent water-jet operator should be able to do them for you if you cant. All you'd need to take them is a pdf of a 34 frame and get them to scale it. You should be able to find a couple of plans of the frames on the net with a quick search,
I have CAD files for every part of a 1/4 scale 34 Ford frame, but not looking to see them out in the public for general use anymore. Screen print of the front axle is below.

I had a bit of a collection of quarter scale cars but traded most of it off a few months back and for the most part got out of the hobby in favour of 1:1 hotrods. Too many guys in 1/4 scale are just trying to scam you out of your money or scab things cheap. I was done by one of these sharks (cost me over $2000) who claimed to be a friend just so he could get massive discounts on everything I sold him. The $2k was insignificant, but it did highlight that everyone out there are just users.
As a result I decided to get out and not have another thing to do with anyone in the hobby. Best decision I made in years.

The only things I did keep were a 34 WCM Frame, one Conley engine and the steel 34 frames I was making, and only then because they were hotrod bits.
One of the steel frames I made was previously pictured (photo is below). That one is now finished with cross-members, suspension, brass fuel lines etc all in place. All I need to do is to take it all apart again and paint it now. I have another 13 at the same stage as the one below, but not really looking to sell them as I said. No offence to anyone, I just don't trust anyone in the hobby anymore. There are too many sharks in quarter scale and I'd prefer not to sell anything to anyone now, that way no-one gets offended.. One day I might get back to the frames but it'll only ever be for my own use. They will never be sold to the general public

If it helps you out, the steel ones were just water-jet cut from the CAD files and done in 1.6mm mild steel. I had dies cut at the same time and then pressed these water-jet cut frames between the dies to get the proper C-section stamped out, and the correct contour to the main rails. If you go down that same route you'll need a decent press to stamp out the main tails and cross members though (50 tonne +, or better if you have access to 100 tonne press).

Good luck mate....and watch out for the sharks.

Hey mate, engine looks good. Stick with that instead of an electric setup. It'll be a nice car when you're done.
If you need any parts to finish it I might be able to help out. I let all my bits go to a family member, but he only wants one of each thing, not multiple parts so he will sell off some where he holds more than one of each bit.
I'll ship anywhere, as long as it's not to Australia. There are a number of idiots there who are little more than thieves so I refuse to sell to anyone in Australia now.
I also won't sell to anyone in New York, particularly if their name is Emilio. That guy is a complete joke. He runs around in the background bagging everyone out, then forgets to take his meds and all of a sudden he's buddies with everyone again. More two-faced you could not get.

Picked up a Conley Engine Stinger 609 this week. Amazing bit of gear. So much better when you see one physically instead of just looking at photos. All of the photos of them do not do them justice.

My sincere thanks go out to a really nice guy, who is a Member, who let me have this one super cheap. No waiting two years, or suffering exchange rate conversions. It was the absolute best deal. I'm surprised there weren't heaps of others who tried to pick it up. Maybe everyone just has large fixed rate home loans they can't get out of.

So that leaves a dilemma, what to do with the early series supercharged engines I have. I was going to use one in a project, but I don't think I will now. Maybe I'll build a quarter "scale" copy of the boat below. Not some dodgy quarter "sized" version with a lame Zenoah engine in it, but a proper quarter "scale" version with supercharged Conley engine in it. Having just a Zenoah in it would have to be a "thorne in your side" as the saying goes. LOL. This engine below would go well in it.

Size comparison. The photo may not show it clearly, but the 609 is heaps bigger.

That last post was more of a dig at a loser who ripped me off because I know him and his rear end man get sniffing around the forums still. He has a large fixed rate home loan he can't get out of, and wants everything from everyone for nothing. That included the early series blown Conley that he wanted for $1500. He got dark when I wouldn't sell it to him for that.
The early series blown motor will find its way into a project though.
