Tear that thing out?
I realize that the plastic engine cover is designed to direct air over the head but it's a complete pain in the ***** to clean! Will It be that bad if I removed it? Does it really work that well? GRASS GRASS GRASS!!!!!![:@][:@][:@]

Outerwears is your first thing, then use some filter also on the inside of crank housing like mesh or foam filter, you can cut the plastic cover down but too much to allow debris to exit easier.

RE: Tear that thing out?
I have outerwears on the pull start cover but it still gets in between the frame, and the fan stuffs it right up in the front and top of the head in between the cover. ARGHHH!!!! I also have foam in the lower side scoops but alas...it gets in. I think I might drill a small hole in the upper corner of the cover so I can put my air nozzle to it and blow out the grass to the right rear where the cover is open. Also some thin foam in between the bottom front of the engine and carb may keep it out, so long as it doesn't hinder cooling. So what cover goes over the anodized ddm billet head kits? It'd be a shame to cover a nice looking head like that.

Take out the motor and put some window screen over the vents on the bottom of the motor. I used some high temp silicone to hold mine on. It took a little time to get it out and put back together, but it saves a lot of cleaning time.
