From the looks of the Kamitiro web site of the overhead chain drive system, it looks like the servos and electronics remain where they are, no need to relocate anything.

If smoething must be relocated, the instructions would tell you, moreover, the kit would have additional hardware to make the relocation possible.

I only say them in Kamitiro's own site, but I also found these links in RCU. Scroll down some for some pics w/o any servos, but a single steering servo will fit
http://www.kamitiro.com/iv3/cms?SID=...AID=46&LANG=en

Check out this link, look at post #5. It is for the overhead belt driven version. It looks like you have to go single servo only, forget using dual steeing servos.
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_54...tm.htm#5466594

However, a fellow RCU member has had bad lick with the plastic structural members:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_71..._1/key_/tm.htm

When I say structural members, I dont mean strutural as part of the RC structure, but structural as part of the supports and braces for the Kamitiro kit itself. Kamitiro should have made these structural parts out of alum or other materials to withstand the engine torque stresses. Too much plastic set too high exposes those parts moments that exceed their material strengths.

You have to move your steering servo over as in photo #### 3 ......you have a place for 2 servos in the tray... use the left mounting side

..............................and now the bad news.............................................. ......

^ Ah! Look at that! They totally redesigned the rear structural mamber to carry the forward 48T & and rear chain sprocket! A Steel reinforcing piece to elimitate the breakage of teh rear structural member!

Steve, make sure the Kamitiro kit you have has this steel part for the reat plastic member. If not, call Kamitro for the upgrade part and let them know you have the older all plastic rear member. Otherwise, as Hellya has just shown of the broken pieces, the all plastic rear structural memeber will break just like in those pics.

BTW, thanks Gasjockey for giving us info and providing pics of the problems you had with your Kamitriro kit.

I am supprised to still see these kits around. That sure is a complicated way to ge the front wheels to pull.

oh the humanity!, wow, now that is carnage at its finest. was the damage caused due to the sprocket unscrewing its self from the shaft. if so couldnt you turn the threads down so that you have enough threads to mount the sprocket and then put some type of block wiht a grub screw in it to hold it in place?

Hellya
looks like you used the belt drive alloy bits and kept the chain drive, I was looking at this conversion when i first bought my baja but the bad rep and losing my 2 speed put me off, i did was wonder back then if you could cross the two kits to make one that would work..i guess you can...any problems since you fitted the alloy?

YOu do not have to move the servo, you can use spacers on the bottome of the servo tray between the servo and the tray. THis will lower the servo under the chain and you can still use the access holes on the chassis if you need to.

Good point. But how far down is too far down? If you remount the servo too low, it will be in a horrible alignment such that the steering linkages will bind and stuff.

Another thing: Be sure to redo your linkages to the steeing servo saver block piece. You will have to make use unequal length arms from your wervo such that the steering block servo saver piece will be centered even with the steering servo to one side. The right side arm to the servo saver steering block will have to be the shorter arm. Worse, since the arms are unqual length, one side will turn at a diffent rate than the other side, so thre will be some binding at certain arcs of the servo's operating arc.

Maybe this binding will be small, and the plastic bits will, well, be mechanically plastic such that they will strain in a plastic state to absorb and correct that binding.

Same problem as Gas Jockey's chain drive problem? If he gets the one with the steel plate for the structural memeber, the possibility of that structural plastic failure would be almost eliminated.
