RE: hpi 5t
I have one also and am waiting for some radio info and less snow before starting and breaking in the new engine.
Don't want it breaking in spinning the entire time.
As far as I can tell by reading the other forums get the stock radio out and replace it with something better.
Problems with glitching and loss of control.
Other notes
Rear Diff needs checking (this is up to you and if you want to tear the truck down)
Steering servo has 1 plastic gear in it that has given a few problems
Make sure you oil the stock filter
Get outer wears if you are planning on running in super bad dusty or sandy conditions.
Check the stock pipe for seal where it hooks to the engine block.
These seem to be the main things that some are having problems with.
Also get a good fail safe if you switch radio's
Ofna makes one and the very popular Duratrax one that alot of guys are running.
Futaba FASST is the best choice of radio from the forum readings.
Other then this here you can pretty much just start the 5T and run it without doing any of these things.
Just be ready for a few things in the future.
HPI is very awesome with there customers and are there to help with any problems and replace anything defective if necessary.
#1 thing I would say beware of that stock radio!
