Intersting, I didnt even know RD Logics made pipes for Baja 5B.

Is this the one?
http://www.google.com/products?hl=en...num=1&ct=title

I too am curious if they are any good. I think they might be somewhere in performance between a JetPro and the stock HPI box canister exhaust.

Yes those are them and you can pick them up on eBay for around $80 which is CHEAP for a 1/5 scale pipe. There are some on HPI Baja forums that run them and most like them. I want to sell the aluminum pipe that comes with the SS kit as every one says they are not as good as the stock square box exhaust.

Haven't tried the RDLogics pipe, but if you watch ddm's ebay store, they almost always have a dominator pipe that people can bid on (instead of the "buy it now" ). I managed to snatch one for $120 (free shipping) when they normally sell for somewhere around $170. I think there's one on there right now at $81 with 13 hours to go. Just a suggestion.

I know the guys on HPI Baja forums like that pipe but I have talked to others that I know well and they have told me that pipe is easily messed up in a wreck. All so they say there are better pipes for what that one cost. Like I said right now I can only go by others opinion as it will still be a few months before my 5B SS will be up and running. But thanks the input!

You can also look up some vids of the rdlogics pipe if you search youtube for "rdlogics baja." As far as durability, 46u, any pipe can get banged up or destroyed in a wreck, it just depends how bad the wreck is. As far as the dominator pipe is concerned, I've been in a few good wrecks myself and have yet to even dent the pipe. The only thing that I'm not too fond of in regards to the dominator, is that it likes to rub on various plastic parts of the car usually melting those areas. It hasn't caused any horrible damage, just something to watch.

I agree. The genuine DDM Dom pipe is made of steel for sure, and it is one tough piece to bend and dent. I use one for one of my FG MTs, and I had to cut a section of the center of the grab bar to make the pipe fit into the FG.

On my comp FG MT, it is a genuune FG alum tuned pipe, and unfortunately, it is prone to dent and dings. So I agree, any alum pipe will be prone to dents and dings like crazy.

As for the RD Logics 5B pipe, I'm going to hit up other sites to see what they say to learn a little more about it.

Those running them on HPI Baja forums say there is not a problem with them melting or melting anything around them like the DDM dominator melting the rear bumper and roll bar. They are all so very well protected for crashes and are much quieter then most other pipes. I need something that is not real loud. Check out what some have to say. Thanks all for you input but wold like to hear from some that have run this pipe.

As you can see from the pictures the pipe is well protected for the most part.

If you find the dyno specifically with the RD Logics pipe on, please post it. I too cannot find the chart.

OK I do not have my 5B SS running yet as I have many up grades I want to do before I run it. I have many other RC vehicles to keep me happy till I do. So all I can do is go by what the majority have to say. I have been told the stock HPI SS pipe is worse then the square can that comes on it not only in very noise but has poorer performance. Most say it is one of the worst pipes out there. I am going to sell my SS pipe and put the money towards something else and right now the RD Logics is near the top of the list do to low noise level, I like how it is not sticking out everywhere and it is cheap.

I all so could not find any information on the link savagecommander posted. I can find where the list the pipe but that is it. Will try again later. If any one can get to it please let me know what it says.

Okay, I found it. My guess was correct, this is about in the same range as the tuned HPI pipe, 1.12 ft-lbf for the HPI tuned, 1.16 ft-lbf for the RD, 2.3 HP for the HPI tuned, 2.25HP for the RD.

The real winner based on this specific dyno is side dominator: 1.7 ft-lbf and 3.21 HP.

I unfortunately could not see the independent variable axis, so I have little idea where the meat of these curves occur.

Sorry, I was jacking around in the Savage Forum for a little bit, otherswise, I would have told you the exact buttons to push.

Yeah, this is great info. Very nice comparisons of the different pipes and engines.

Though I guessed the RD Logic pipe and the HPI tuned would be similar, I was actually thing the RD might make more on the stock CY HPI engine. I am really astonished that their performance results are artually almost 100% identical.

I need something that is not going to be too loud. Would be nice if they had the Jetpro V3 results with and with out the silencer but all they have is with it.

I dont know about something that is not too loud, but I do know by the principle of physics, the larger expansion chamber pipes will be a bit more silent than say a canister type box without any deflector plates. The larger chamber of say a Dominator or JetPro pipe allows the gasses to expand inside the pipe more, thus absorbing more of their sound energy. And interestingly, on like a Gabe Brown side bleed, the pipe is surprisingly cool enough to touch at the front hanger, well, at least untill you romp on the trigger and really push the engine.
