4wd FG Baja RTR Coming Soon
It looks like FG is getting ready to release a more affordable 4wd Baja Buggy [link]http://www.fgsupply.com/[/link]. I would think it would be cheaper since it appears to have the plastic parts instead of alloy parts. From the picture it doesn’t appear to have front brakes either. I guess we will have to wait and see what the price will be when they arrive in the US. Hobbythek in Germany as it listed for 740 EUR, which is around $960 [link]http://www.rc-car-online-shop.de/cgi-bin/cosmoshop/lshop.cgi?action=showdetail&wkid=9957&ls=e&nc=1233957030-10049&rubnum=&artnum=fg_baja_4wd&file=&gesamt_zeilen=0Tsuche4wd%20fg%20baja%20rtr[/link]. Then add the shipping which would probably be anywhere from $150 to $200. That would bring the total somewhere around $1200. Hobbythek doesn’t have any pictures or descriptions, just the price, so I don’t know if it is the same as the picture below.

Well, now that would fit my budget perfectly, but on the other hand, i would probaly upgrade everything to aluminum anyway, so the upgraded one might be cheaper for me to have. So many choices so little funds.

Great find! I just wish such a beast were out when I bought my first FG, I would have jumped on that in an instant. But I do not regret buying the comp 4wd FG, as Clubin said, I too would have spend countless more buying alum upgrade parts.

Nice find Mooman, the price isn’t bad either. They say is should be available late March and the price is 250EUR, which is about $325 plus shipping. It’s cheaper than the Kamitiro conversion kits and not to mention it is a much better kit.

I just wish that it will be available in 8-shock version, this one is only a 4shock version. Or I can go 6shock, 4 on the rear, 2 up front.
Where ever did you find this link?

I don’t know where Mooman got the link, but I did get an email from Hobbythek today with the announcement of the new 4wd kits as well as the new 4wd RTR cars. Mooman’s post was the first I heard of the new 4wd conversion kits, so I don’t know if he received the same email as me or he came across it somewhere else.

Did you guys see the FG 4WD Mini Cooper? That is sweet! I'm not a huge on-road fan but a rally car like MCD's is definitely a great addition to FG's lineup.

I don't think the Mini Cooper is 4WD - the bodyshell is designed for the medium wheelbase chassis (515 mm) - the Baja/Marder chassis is shorter (475 mm I recall) so I doubt it would fit without major surgery!!
Hopefully the Mini Cooper bodyshell will fit my MCD Rally Car as the wheelbase is 510 mm.

The RTR Baja kit is perfect. My friend just bought a Comp 4WD Baja which we started to build today. Later on in the year we may just get 2 of the RTR's to have for fall and winter driving. Can't run my Elcon in the snow!

I have an FG Comp 4wd and so far the belt as held up fine. I recently had an issue with a bearing seizing up on me and ruining my cog pulley. Here is my thread, it has all the info on my FG. [link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7772343/tm.htm[/link]

I've been eyeing the kits. Looks like there will be RTR as well as Buggy only kits. So if you don't want the radio and servos you can choose the Buggy only kit. The RTR kits have an R at the end of the item number. I like the fact that with the plastic kit you can upgrade what you want rather than going full out. The heavier it is the more damge you can cause. No one has one right now to give us a review and when it's time for me to get one by then I'll know what needs to be upgraded, not to mention I'll have the funds saved up.
For now I'll finish my friends 4WD Comp Baja and we'll have some fun with that. Just have the rear brakes to instal on it now.
