Same here. Anyway, Smartech and Nutech make great vehicles overall, their prices are great and their parts support is great. Far better vehicles than HSP/Himoto/Exceed/Redcat etc etc. in my opinion.

Well my first 1/5 was a smt and well it was junk . But they have came a long ways since then .I would not say they are better then some of the others I am very happy with my redcat and put thier customer service up thier with HPIs , buts that just me .But the good thing at least these companies keep bringing in more 1/5s and thats a good thing .This one here looks mean .Need more info on it though I know hellya has one and is happy with it at least i think he has the older thunderbolt.

There are better options, but for the price they're great.

Two options for Thunderbolt 2.

1. 23cc CY engine with Futaba OEM AM transmitter

2. 26CC CY engine with Futaba OEM 3CH FM transmitter

SMT are capable of making outstanding engines... I have a 23cc mod (that's all the info I have), which is clearly a bespoke piece, sent to me by Smartech for informal evaluation after I finished the review of the Thunderbolt 1. That engine RIPS. The 28 that came in the car was utter poo, but this 23cc mod outperforms the stock CY 23cc NOTICEABLY, and probably the Zen too.

I also have a new prototype engine on the way (smartech manufactured again), I will tell you all what it's like as soon as I am permitted.

This is not my understanding of how it works. Rather...

Smartech is the RC sub-division of Perfect Toys International, an ENORMOUS toy company. Nutech is a completely different company which SPLIT OFF FROM the original Smartech. They share major suppliers and certainly some manufacturing processes, and that's why their products are similar and will probably continue to be for the foreseeable future. This will be the mark of when Nutech is standing on its own, when it designs and produces some original ideas.

Hi Foxy, yes I read your review but it remains the std SMT engine just doesn't cut it when comparing to a Zenoah or CY performance wise in std form! Sure a factory modified motor maybe better but is not a std production motor and the most annoying part about there motor nothing fits it? not even a Zen/CY pull start.
